You have set a new standard for fic, my dear. People literally (and for good reason!) want to get your work ENGRAVED ON THEIR BODIES. YOU ARE SO AWESOME OH MY GOD

i honestly have trouble believing that at times, i really do – I am just a small shy grey-haired bookish nerd, i mean heck, I am a mum and a teacher i am the antithesis of cool

(and brainweasels intermittently gnaw on my insecurities too, so there’s that)

and I don’t think I’ve set a new standard, truthfully – I’m following in the footsteps of millions of writers after all! Cripes, I’ve read SO many glorious things written by amazing folks, things that make me gasp and reel and cry in awe at the phrasing and characterisation and pacing and beauty

i am neverendingly grateful, honoured, staggered and stunned that people find enjoyment in my blabberings. Always, always, always.

@determamfidd’s Sansûkh is the best thing to have ever happened to me. I’ve been reading it non-stop for two days straight and I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve laughed or wept this much. Currently taking a break from the feels (just finished ch. 35, holy shit my heart) to check out some of the fanwork created for the series since I haven’t gotten a chance to yet (I’m reading the entire thing on my kindle, unfortunately, so no in-text images or hover-over translations for me) and wow! Just. Wow. I honestly need a soundtrack of all the songs in my life, because jeezus.

okay omg okay i am trying not to blubber here, omfg aaaaaaaaaah – I am stunned and thrilled and so so grateful you like it, thank you SO SO MUCH

seriously, i nearly burst into tears reading this, you are so generous and SO kind, and thank you so very much for telling me, it just makes it all so worthwhile to hear that the story affected you so – but GAH no, I am just. seriously. I am so touched, and so so happy you like the music too, and nope, sniffles and wobbly chin and looking at the ceiling bc NO, TEARS, YOU SHALL NOT PASS… and then i read your tags, and…

“ #this story is absolutely phenomenal#i came for the shipping and i stayed for the incredible world building + riveting plot + stunning character development#+ incredible cast of canon and original characters + wonderful prose and storytelling + epic feels#also grimli/legolas because i didn’t ship them pre-sansusk but i certainly do now ”

WELP THAT DID THE TRICK, I AM CRYING

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

hi dets!! i was wondering how you would feel about someone getting a quote from something you’ve written as a tattoo? because i’m definitely getting a mountain tat and i would absolutely love to incorporate your quote “oh, i dream of jagged rusty skies” from the iron hills for me into it – only if you would be okay with it, though. lots of love, and have a great day!!!

OH MY GOODNESS – yes, always yes, I am so so SO HONOURED, holy HECK! THANK YOU, Nonnie, thank you SO MUCH for thinking my words could be worth that!!!

(You’d be the second person with a sansukh tatt, I believe! the awesome @rileybluuseys also has one! which holy HECK seriously, omfg, i cannot believe cannot CANNOT CANNOT believe, i am so honoured and cripes cannot even process…!)

Do you think the peanut gallery would have followed the Company’s journey to Erebor the way they follow the Fellowship? Without being able to influence them of course, but taking it in turns to watch over them?

Hey there Nonnie!

They didn’t watch in the same organised, scheduled manner as they have over the Fellowship. They didn’t really take turns, there was no roster, etc. That particular rota system was set up in response to the threat of the Ring War – and because Thorin couldn’t do it all on his own.

(remember, he had to pass out in Gimlin-zaram before he finally accepted the necessity of it, lmao)

But yes, the peanut gallery did watch the Erebor Quest, absolutely, though it was in a disorganised, scattered and individual fashion. I’ve answered some questions before on who watched, and when!

Fandom Fic Rec Days

barduil:

The Fandom Fic Rec Days are back!

It is easy to make people look at art; all you need is a reblog. But
when it comes to make people want to read fanfiction, it can get just a
little more tricky.

To give writers more recognition, and to celebrate their stories, we’ve decided to organize the Fic Rec Days.

On February 10th, 11th, and 12th, you’re invited to rec your favourite fics, from the all time faves to the WIPs you’re currently enjoying.

How? In any way you want!

  • Create a post saying why people should read the fic!
  • Draw some fanart!
  • Create graphics/aesthetics!
  • Make a fic rec list!
  • Make a mix!
  • And so on.

Anything, really; there’s no way of rec’ing worth less than another.

This way, you will:

  1. Promote writers’ fic, and maybe get them new readers.
  2. Make their day, they will be super happy!
  3. Maybe encourage them to write more (win-win!)

Any rules/extra information?

  • Tag your posts with #ficrecdays
  • Tag your fandom/ship.
  • You can always queue if you’re not available!
  • Readers, please consider leaving a comment on the fics you liked!

Above all else, have fun, make people happy (writers and new readers alike!)

Reblog to spread the word, and see you then! 😀
