Hey dets! I was just wondering, if you wrote a dedication page for sansukh, what would it say?

I had to think about this, very hard. My first thought was to dedicate it to perhaps my family, or the Sansukh Podfic Cast, and truly both deserve it for all their love and support. But then I thought: without a particular legacy, Sansukh would simply never have happened at all. So I changed tack. Here it is:

Year In Review

This year has been a whirlwind. In addition to the myriad celebrity deaths, I lost two outernet friends and two laptops. There were fights with family and arguments with loved ones, but none that were permanent. I fell in love.

I made a whole bunch of new fandom friends, and got even closer with old ones. I got to meet @aviva0017 in person for the first time (and she is even more gorgeous in person, shut the fuck up oh my god). Shoutout to @flukeoffate, @the-dragongirl, @notanightlight, @peggaboo-draws, @morvidra, @theriza, for always being around if I need to vent. Sansukh Cast Therapy has been a highlight of this year. Let’s hope it continues to grow and be the light that we all need it to be.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention @determamfidd; she is an incredible writer, an amazing person, and a fierce friend. I don’t have the words to describe what she means to me, and how grateful I am that she is a part of my life; I’d be a very different person if I hadn’t met her. Thank you, Dets. Thank you.

I went to Quebec for Halloween! My girlfriend @internaljohnologue flew me up there for a week to visit her for the first time, and I had a fucking blast. I spoke in a Quebecois accent for a week when I got home.

And finally, however much of a shitshow this year has been, it was the year that I got to meet @heuristicdevice in person, twice. The first time was in May, when she conspired with my husband to surprise me with a visit. The second time was for her birthday this November, where I was in cahoots with @aviva0017 and HD’s roommate to surprise her, only to cave two days before the trip and blab the whole thing. I’m terrible at surprises, apparently. Bright side, I made her cry with happiness, so. Win for me.

I adore you all, and I can’t wait to see what this next year has in store. (Hopefully a more updated podfic schedule OOPS)

oh god Ricky, I’m sniffling. Love you. And thank YOU.

Can the Sansuhk fandom as a whole agree on the fact that how @determamfidd gushes over every single fanwork of her fic is the most adorable and encouraging thing ever?

(I was gonna put The Iron Hills For Me because god, my heart was stolen by that song, but honestly? Light on the Horizon is just so… OOMPH. If I had to pick one song Dets has done that is Sansukh ™ it’s Light on the Horizon. All that being said, Dets has a damn amazing voice. Funny, sad, epic? Honestly, man.Just BWAH.)

(Although one sure-fire way to make me cry is whisper ‘the iron hills for me…’ out of nowhere.)

I have my phone but I will likely be unable to answer much – Tblog is a pain to manage regarding private asks, bc it posts them publically, PMs are hit-and-miss (but better than private asks tbh) and I am a crappy old-lady typer on that teeny tiny phone keyboard! I will try and hop online a couple of times, but mostly I will be ghosting about 🙂

I commissioned the amazing @iraya to draw the Glittering Caves scene from Sansukh Chapter 44 – and look! LOOK AT IT, it has surpassed my wildest imaginings, it is so goddamned BEAUTIFUL!! THANK YOU, you amazing, dedicated art wizard you!!

Here’s the moment in question:

“Mahal sang of stone,” said Gimli, and he kissed the back of Legolas’ hand. His beard was a soft, delicious scratch. “In the void, before Elf or Dwarf or even earth came to be. He sang of stone. Now you hear the beat he used.”

“Gimli.” Legolas could not stand longer, and he dropped to his knees to bury his face into Gimli’s barrel chest. “Oh, Gimli, this is a wonder too deep for me…!”

“I do not think so, my Elf.” Gimli pushed a hand through his hair, the strands slipping between his fingers. “Not if you can hear it.”

“I will teach you to hear the singing of the leaves, the drinking of earth,” he rasped, his cheek pressed hard against Gimli’s leather jerkin. “I cannot begin to repay you for what you have given me here.”

“Daft Elf, this needs no answer.” He felt a kiss laid upon the top of his head, belying Gimli’s gruff words. “You are beloved of a Dwarf now, and this is what we are. I would be remiss indeed if I never told you.”

“Sansûkhâl,” Legolas whispered against his chest, and kissed it just over that gentle, brave, beating heart. “I have no such secrets as these, I have no wondrous gifts to give…”

“You are gift enough, to me and to the world.” Gimli said tenderly, and his hand smoothed around Legolas’ head to cup his cheek. “Never doubt that. I have barely even begun to discover what a wonder you are.”

Upon his knees, they were nearly of a height: Gimli for once a little taller than Legolas. As it was, Legolas could stretch forth and kiss Gimli easily, his neck craning forward to catch his lips.

He could not say how long they kissed, but he did know that the stars danced.
