Hope you are doing okay? Having a good week? Re-reading “Hearts will as hearts must”, sooooo good :)

hey Nonnie, I’m good! Had one of those stomach-twisting, heart-squeezing, slow and drawn-out anxiety episodes earlier in the week, actually. I wasn’t so great then. So I took a few days offline, to re-sort myself 🙂

Been at home with my little person all week: daycare is done for the year. I’m pretty knackered: a two-and-a-half year old is a small ADORABLE inexhaustible ball of unexpectedness!! We went to her first concert today: the Wiggles – OF COURSE, lmao. She went berserk. She adores all of them, but especially Emma!

(it’s the first concert I’ve ever been to where I knew every. single. word!!)

A proposal: instead of Glorfindel’s hair falling like a normal person’s, instead it goes up. Or more or less so. Pretty much just in all directions besides what direction hair is meant to go. Even if you headcanon Glorfindel’s hair to be very long, he is literally the sun as in it is impossible to not see him anywhere. Plus, his height only adds to the effect.

what

oh my god. Now I am imagining a kind of giant golden dandelion-clock

(the one shaking him is totally Elrond)

know what kinda breaks my heart? Bilbo’s long introductory monologue of AUJ, where he’s like “ahh, Frodo… Erebor! The greatest kingdom in Middle-Earth!” and then describes its utter glory in such *detail* and such feeling, and it’s just like… Bilbo… honey… you were never THERE. You’ve never SEEN it like this; only empty and burnt and desolate. He talks as if he witnessed it himself before the Dragon came, when really, only Thorin and Balin could’ve told such tales.

you come into my inbox and leave unadulterated pain

Do you have any thoughts/headcanons about dwarf kids/teens exploring their gender and sexuality options? Because one of the things I love the most about Sansukh is the absolute diversity of sex and gender issues!

Ooooh, Nonnie, I headcanon that the Dwarf culture is more accepting of experimentation and exploration, certainly. I think they do not have gendered occupations, roles or appearances, and so many of the obstacles facing us in our world do not really apply.

This is pretty idealised, I know! In contrast, I’ve headcanonned that Hobbit society, with all its properness and respectability and insularity and gossip, is much more strictured and repressive.

So within these headcanons, I think it’s very normal for Dwarf children and teens to explore who they are! Like people here, some might be totally certain at a very young age. Some might need a bit of time and a bit of trying-it-out-for-size before they find the right fit. Either way, it’d be totally accepted by the society as a whole. Because hey, they’re all Dwarves.

(I’m glad you like it, Nonnie! Thank you so so much!!)

Sansûkh (again)

stereden:

I blame you, @determamfidd, for the urge that wouldn’t let me go until I drew this. It’s been ages since I drew anything (mostly because I’m not that good at it), but I just started my new job and it’s slow at the moment because I’m waiting on other people having the time to meet with me to discuss the project I’m there for, and I had a pencil and a bloc of sticky notes.

Which resulted in this (image quality sucks, I’ll try to scan it tomorrow)

Also, I had a question: in chapter 31, it is said that Gimizh killed an Orc with his broken lamp – yet in the latest chapter he tells Gimli he killed a goblin. So what happened? 😛

Text: Gimizh Bofurul [did I get that right, Dets?] – The Terror of Erebor

Text: Other possible appellations include:

– Gimizh Cookie Thief

– Gimizh Lampswinger

– Gimizh Orcbrainer

Text: The lamp that slayed an orc

AHHHH @stereden! I LOVE HIS FRECKLES AND HIS LIL FACE AND HIS EYES AND HIS HAIR! you wizard you!!!!

yes, Gimizh Bofurul would be right!

Oh – Orcs and Goblins are the same thing in most sources- Tolkien used the words interchangeably (in the Hobbit, for instance, he uses ‘Goblin’ or ‘Hobgoblin’ and not Orc) but uses mostly ‘Orc’ in LOTR. I like the word ‘goblin’, myself, I think it is a fun word to say and write! Plus it has children’s-fairy-story connotations. So I had Gimizh use the word to make him feel more childish 🙂

ALSO YEAAAAAAAH I LOVE THAT LAMP, stick it on a plinth and enshrine it for future generations, THE LAMP THAT KILLED AN ORC! BONKED IT RIGHT ON THE BONCE!
