There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.

Frerin watches over his siblings from the Halls of Mahal, wishing he could reach them

Dwarves referring to babies as “pebbles” though

via @hattedhedgehog

#dwarves#erebor#but like#they call infants and toddlers pebbles more often than they use the word baby#like instead of saying ‘so I heard you have a baby on the way’ it’s ‘ahhh I hear you’ll have a little pebble of your own soon!’#or ‘how many pebbles?’ ‘two/how bout yourself?’#and sometimes parents just refer to their child as The Pebble instead of by name#pebble is just a cute name for dwarf babies

@northerntrash

Thorin sometimes referring to Fili and Kili as ‘pebbles’ cause that’s what he’s been calling them for the most of their lives. Bilbo being amused by it and adopting the nickname. Fili and Kili frothing with rage cause THEY ARE NOT CHILDREN ANYMORE, but silently enjoying it.

determamfidd have you seen this omg hella yeah

OMG GAMGEE… I am blinking and squealing a bit, bc, yeah I have been doing this one for a while, (I HAVE A TINY TINY PROUD OMFG)

*shyly pushes forward Yours Faithfully, from July this year, and also, Little Wild One, from 2013*

I am utterly in love with Dwarven children being called ‘pebbles’ it is the cutest freaking thing, I’m so happy that others agree!

You might like Sansûkh! It’s by Determamfidd here on Tumblr.

sovinly:

I have actually read @determamfidd’s Sansûkh! I ran into it while working on Strike stone, strike home (like lightning), in fact!

You are completely correct that I liked it, because I am desperately undone by things that deal so carefully and thoughtfully with trauma and recovery and worldbuilding and gender and narrative. Also things that love Dwarves and all of Tolkien’s complex, noble characters as much as I do (and are as invested in interpreting all that appendices info as inclusively as possible).

I know that the pairings (and WIPs) aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this impressively tackles a wide scope of a world and all the issues contained therein, and is definitely worth a try! (It also doesn’t have the, uh, cringing heteronormativity/gender normativity that kept me out of the LotR fandom in general, so.)

oh wow…! thank you so much!

4 and 5 for the Cool Asks for Fic Writers? Please :D

elenothar:

4: Are there any other fic writers you admire? If so, who and why?

Oh yes, definitely, SO MANY. In the interest of keeping things vaguely short I’ll restrict myself to one or two from my active fandoms:

 – deadcatwithaflamethrower for SW because HOLY SHIT PERFECTION (their Re-entry verse is a must for anyone in the fandom), with an honorary mention for norcumi and dogmatix and their wonderful AUs

– determamfidd for the Hobbit because Sansukh is one of my favourite fics ever

– bracketyjack for Tortall because of Lady Knight Volant which is brilliant and long and really well-researched

– ikeracity, pangeasplits, yahtzee63 and etharei for X-Men, again because of brilliant AUs

5: How many words can you write if you sit down and write intensely for an hour?

I’ve never actually checked, but I think it’s somewhere around 2000, depending on the day. I’m not a particularly fast writer, sadly.

Ohmygod ohmygod wow thank you so much I absolutely adore your fic and this is just making me feel so giddy ahhhh you are one of my fave authors, I am thrilled that you enjoy sansukh!
