Thrain and Fris are the proudest grandparents to ever proud. But really quietly.

Compared to Thror’s indulgence and Hrera’s fussing – absolUTELY. Fris and Thrain, in comparison, are a much quieter sort of Gran and Grandad!

Fris is a bit stern sometimes – no nonsense, please! – but so so tender and loving, omfg. And Thrain is just such a quiet haven. He’s the perfect refuge, really. He never judges, never presses. Just provides a safe place.

Barur probably isn’t above a little wrangling of the Trouble Troupe when the need arises. Like, what do those foreign dignitaries like to eat? Send the cute kiddies in on a recon mission! The King forgot to mention how many people were going to be at a dinner meeting? Scout kiddo! A few fruit tarts and cookies are worth the intel.

Ooooohh yes! I have mentioned before that Barur is a pretty good, if impatient, kid wrangler (comes from being third of 12 kids). He’d definitely understand the power of bribes!

The image of Laerophen being a baby-dwarf magnet is kind of amusing. He probably goes and helps out with the kids a lot when he’s not doing war stuff? The littles are cute, and he can free up people for other work. Laerophen also likes telling stories and helping kids learn stuff.

He would too! He’d at first try to read from a book, I think – but the constant repetition of ‘why?’ would soon force him to throw it aside and make up his own epic yarns ❤

Do Thror and Gror do brother-y things in the Halls? Like, hang out and craft things together and be marginally less gloomy?

Hey, they’re not always grim! Thror is a deadpan snarker of supreme skill, to my mind 🙂

Yeah, I think Gror would be a bit of an outside ear for Thror. Not so involved in all the manic drama that is the watching of the Quest – a good confidante! They’d have a beer and chat, and Thror would grumble and then Gror would pat his back, and they’d sing old songs from the Grey Mountains, before the Dragons ever came.
