I like, can’t express how much I want and am waiting for some sort of lion king “remember who you are simba” moment in sansukh with thorin being a cloud and all that cause he’s just as dramatic to appear as a cloud to someone. At least some fanart it just seems so fitting. (On a more poetic note, at least a father/son moment like “look at the stars. the great kings of the past look down on us from those stars” with any characters sknxksn lion king is just so “canon” in a way)

Except from Chapter 15:

“Caras Galadhon,” Haldir said proudly. “The heart of Elvendom on earth, realm of the Lord Celeborn and Galadriel, Lady of Light.”

“Beautiful,” said Frodo softly, and he was echoed by Sam, Aragorn and to Thorin’s horror, Gimli.

“Do you jest, Master Dwarf?” said Haldir, his brow arching.

Gimli shook his head. “Nay, it is beautiful. See how the leaves glisten like pale gold! Truly, this place is lovely beyond compare.” He looked troubled at the admission.

“All right, but don’t tell them, their heads are big enough as it is!” Nori snapped, and Thorin rubbed at the bridge of his nose.

“My star, you are being obscure again,” he groaned. “Remember who you are, Durin’s child!”

I suppose the mirror moment in Chapter 16 could be seen as a dramatic Thorin-as-Mufasa-cloud thing? pffft, I honestly hadn’t made the connecton, Nonnie – AND NOW I CANNOT UNSEE IT 🙂

good luck with the small thing on the airplane <3

Ahhhh, thank you Nonnie!

Like I said, it’s not her first time flying. This is the third time we’ll have done this trip. The first two times, though? She was way too young to really pay attention. I fed her on takeoff and landing, and that cleared her ears and kept her happy.

This time? SHE IS A BUNDLE OF ENERGY AND MAYHEM. I’m on my own, too – Mr Dets isn’t coming with me. It’s not a long flight for an adult at all, but for a littley, it’s a bit of a big ask. She has to sit still for an hour. God help us, every one.

This weekend I’ll be going to thrift shops to buy some 2nd hand toys and board books she hasn’t seen before, so she has some new distractions on the flight. I’ll have two of her favourite snacks with me (cruskits or yoghurt) because the attention-grabbing Power of Snacks is mighty and cannot be underestimated! I have My Baby Firework on my phone, we’ll see how long that lasts. I’ll try walking around when the seatbelt sign goes off. I’m afraid we’re going to be that mum and kid on the flight, really. Ahhh well!

(I’m also trying to get a bit of writing done before I leave, so I have something to work on when I get back. Chapter 38 wordcount update (as of last night): 1K)
