A bit of a random question – do you think any of the races of middle earth could theoretically be accepting of open relationships? (I personally could see hobbits being all about open relationships, in an au where they are less conservative.) Also, Sansukh continues to give me life! I read it anytime I need stress relief, and I look forward to your updates so much :)

I feel that the most likely race to be accepting of open relationships would actually be Men, tbh – at least in Sansukh! Though perhaps less so for the Elf-influenced and traditionalist and past-looking Gondorians, and more so the Rohirrim, with their shieldmaids and oral historians and the like. And we can’t forget the Southrons, either! Umbari, Haradrim, etc – I bet they would have formal agreements in relationships, which could be negotiated and re-negotiated as circumstances permit.

I’m sure that there are exceptions in nearly every race, though. Hobbits in Sansukh would be terribly gossipy and scandalised about it, but it would no doubt still occur. IDK about Dwarves – the LOTR appendices sort of crap on that idea a bit. Elves are explicitly stated to be strictly monogamous I think? I could be wrong!

Awwww, I am so glad you enjoy it! You’re so kind, thank you SO much!

Question: what happens to the dwarves that wake up in the halls but have nobody to dreally go to? As in all of their family is either alive or doesn’t care enough about them to go find them? Who do they have to help them adjust?

Ouch, Nonnie.

Personally, I think this is where the Seven Fathers Progenitors of the Dwarves come into their own. Say a Stiffbeard dies, and they are an orphan and their own parents can’t remember them/can’t be there for a variety of different reasons (who knows why, let’s put that aside for now though)…

The parent of the Stiffbeard clan, one of the original seven Dwarves made by Mahal in the days before the sun and moon and stars, would appear before that Dwarf and take them to their rooms. They would care for them, introduce them to other Dwarves, comfort them and help them adjust.

Slowly that Dwarf would make friends and build confidence. The Stiffbeard parent would then take a background role as the newly deceased Dwarf becomes less dependent upon their guidance.

Even after many centuries in the Halls, I don’t think the original seven would ever really abandon these lone Dwarves that they personally guide. They would appear to them often, and over and over, but always in that terribly unexpected and mysterious manner – and usually when their charge was in need of them.

Headcanoning on the fly again, but I hope it answered your question Nonnie!

I know I’m so late to this party, but I just listened to your choral Iron Hills song all the way through for the first time, and I’m crying. Not even just Tumblr-crying, but actually lying in my bed in the dark crying multiple tears and it’s your fault. Your voice and your writing are beautiful how dare you.

kdjsfhlsgfaksjdaksjfakhgfak oh my goodness, thank you so much. THANK YOU SO MUCH. *hugs* You are so kind, and uh… I’m very very sorry.

*sheepishly pushes tissues in your direction*

I KNOW RIGHT.

It always makes me giggle a bit. (Particularly knowing that Pippin is older than Eomer, bwaaahahahaha)

FOTR ages, for reference!

All of the Company’s dark names are PERFECT for them (though Dori’s made me sad :() I find it oddly sweet that both Bifur’s and Ori’s are to do with light. Bifur’s sounds like it makes him the Arwen of the Company :P

Awwww, thank you Nonnie! I am really glad you like them! (I KNOW – AUGH DORI)

I love Bifur’s, myself. Absolutely love it. And I love that it can refer to both his gentler and more creative side, and also the wilder side of him (because, of course, twilight is when all the night creatures come out to play!).

I have a question dear Dets, do you think you’ll ever post all the “Meet a Dwarrowdam” together in one post or one tag on tumblr for someone who wants to reread them without searching through all the chapters of your very epic and quite lengthy fic?

Heya Nonnie!

I actually intend to collate, polish and and re-work ALL of my notes at the end of Sansukh, and then publish them in the Appendices. That will include all the character bios – many of which are in fact a lot more detailed than the ‘Meet a Dwarrowdam’ blurbs (I had to edit them for the sake of spoilers – some of them were published quite early on in the fic!)

If you do want to read them all, I suppose you could select ‘Entire Work’ at AO3, and then ctrl+F and search for ‘Meet a Dwarrowdam’. That way you should be able to find them all!
