So like, do you hc Narvi as being romantically involved with Celebrimbor? I always just assumed from your writing that she was ace (which is awesome too!), but reading your comment on the beautiful picture of Narvi you reblogged earlier got me curious about your thoughts on their relationship (and how it might affect Narvi’s thoughts on Gimli and Legolas’ relationship).

I don’t actually have a firm headcanon on this one way or the other. I like them together. I like them aro and best buds. I like them ace, but doollaly in love. I like them romantic. I like them queerplatonic. I like them with green eggs and ham.

All the Narvi and Celebrimbor!

THAT!!! OIN AND HIS ATTITUDE AND SASS TOWARDS HIS KING. I LOVE OIN. I LOVE HIS SELECTIVE HEARING. LOVE LOVE LOVE. He’s said a number of things to thorin in sansukh that just made me fall to the ground laughing, chief of which is pitiful king and also having no time to watch thorin have feelings HAHAHAHAHAHAH I LOVE THAT HE WAS CONSTANTLY ON THE VERGE OF JUST HAVING DONE WITH IT. PROBABLY WANTED SO MUCH TO SMACK THE BURGLAR AND KING UPSIDE THEIR HEADS. but oh, everromantic gloin finding it sad <3

I ADORE CHEEKY LOYAL-BUT-DISRESPECTFUL SASSBUCKET 110% OVER IT ALL OIN, AND GRUFF CRUSTY-ON-THE-OUTSIDE BUT GOOEY SOFT-CENTRED GLOIN (i’m sure that’s sort of obvious by now, heh!)

Thank you, lovely Nonnie, I am so glad you like it too! (and i am so happy you liked the ‘pitiful king’ and the ‘watch Thorin have feelings’ bits – I’m also p fond of ‘too many elves’. Oin is just so much fun to write!)

although we are totally spoilt for choice, i must say that one of my favourite ever lines is Ori’s “you mean he knows?” in Ch9. ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS. ALWAYS MAKES ME CACKLE. I just love how you manage to encapsulate so much in a single sentence. To me it just represents the thorough lack of subtlety all round from start till end from basically everyone re bagginshield: the exasperation, the incredulity, how everybody knew except, naturally, thorin, and how much headdesking must have occurred.

SO much headdesking. SO MUCH. Every desk ever, covered in little dints from the repeated impacts of twelve Dwarven foreheads.

I mean, the Bagginshield in Sansukh was eventually an open secret to just about everyone – except the main players.

Ha, yeah! TOTALLY unsubtle, Ori. But to be fair, Ori was totally incredulous that – really? Finally really truly? Has he actually figured it out, can we stop not-saying the bleeding obvious now?

Bofur was still a bit steamed about it all, even two years later. Gloin found it all inexpressibly sad.

(Actually – during the Quest, Gloin became very good at surreptitiously stepping on Oin’s foot at appropriate moments. Oin isn’t the most diplomatic of Dwarves, and he was on the verge of just barking it out at least twice a day. What? Not like he would have had to listen to the fallout. Ear trumpet busted. You know.)

It’s the only bet that Nori never collected on. He’s STILL a bit salty over it.

Sansukh truly is incredibly rewarding upon multiple readings, all the little details and wonderful bits that you have painstakingly added, the foreshadowing, the juxtaposition, the character foils. I love it MORE with each time that I read it.

Oh my gosssssssshhhhhh !!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH

you are just so kind, that is such a beautiful thing to tell me! I’m gonna just. Yeah. Scuse me.

*wipes eyes as surreptitiously as possible*

hahaha can’t help but wonder if Thorin really is the most unobservant dwarf ever or if he was blocking it out so hard or hoping somehow that his sheer level of denial can change facts, i mean, in lorien even before everything he already clearly heard legolas’s “i’ve never been so wrong” & newfound fascination and he was all THAT SOUNDED LIKE…!!! and then promptly refused to entertain the thought of that parellel to be just about the LAST PERSON to know of gigolas. oh, thorin :’D carrock much?

YESSSS THAT PARALLEL

I am still a leeeetle proud of that bit: Legolas saying ‘In all my summers under leaf and bough, I have never been so wrong’ and Thorin basically going WHAT WAIT sdfhlsjdhgfksjhdgf LA LA LA DIDN’T HAPPEN.

Fris is right about her son: he’s magnificent and brave and determined – but he isn’t always the most observant! and yes there was a certain element of IF I IGNORE IT IT’LL GO AWAY involved hahaha

Hello Dets! So I was recently in a bit of a rut regarding writing, so I decided to go through your ‘how does a Dets write?’ tag and basically i just wanted to tell you that you’re incredibly inspiring and reading some of your answers to asks was amazing (borur stonebelly’s creation got me like WOW) and yeah i dunno you’re awesome keep rocking life ^^;

Ahhhh! Thank you so much! I really hope it was useful to you, Nonnie. It sucks being in a rut. I’m glad it was interesting! I feel like I blab a lot 🙂

Barur Stonebelly! AW YISS. Thank you again, glad you liked!

Just curious if you’re religious at all? Your description of deities is amazing and so incredibly evocative!

Thank you! 😀

No, I’m not religious myself. I was brought up in a very relaxed household – technically Anglican, but it wasn’t a major part of our lives. I guess we’re lapsed, though it wasn’t ever really discussed much. My father is cheerfully agnostic, and my mother is very private with her faith. We all understood that the four of us children were not expected to follow our parent’s beliefs: we could have any spiritual or religious relationship we felt drawn to. Both my grandmothers were/are deeply devout Christians.

I went to an Anglican grammar school for a few years (nerdy nerdy scholarship baby), and so I am fairly well-acquainted with theology and religion (I used to read religious texts for fun and interest – no, I am not kidding). Still, I remain an agnostic. My favourite part was being in the Cathedral choir. Music is always a transporting spiritual experience for me ❤
