Omg but like. Does Laerophen like babies, like little babies that need to be cradled and carried, or is he awkward with them as well? I find it so cute thinking of him sitting on the floor holding lil bby Durin with Gimizh and his friends gathered all around him, and giving him conflicting advice on how to hold him properly (under the careful and watchful eyes of Bomfris and the Stonehelm, of course).

Pffft, yeah – Laerophen is twice as awkward with infants as he is with kids, tbh. Awed by them, by their very existence. But entirely made of thumbs when holding them (and he holds them like they’re a ticking bomb). He mentions that the last child born in Mirkwood was nearly 100 years ago, so he hasn’t had all that much opportunity to practice! 

All, ‘omg omg look at the tiny new life, look at it, it is so perfect and precious and how can so much potential be so small and – and it’s leaking and oh it is crying and what do I dooooo’

I feel like I need to tell you this story. SO my friends and I all read Sansûkh, and cry over it regularly. One of my friends said ‘GOD IF I COULD MEET THE AUTHOR I WOULD KISS THM AND MAYBE PUNCH THEM’. But, we didn’t actively search where you lived because HA THEY’RE ALL IN THE US. Then a friend looked it up and well *waves from NSW* HEY YOU WE ACTUALLY LIVE IN THE SAME COUNTRY HOLLA
