Gimizh-art on the walls of Gloin and Mizim’s house! Also probably on the walls at his parents’ house and at Gimli’s (does Gimli still live at home?). There is a clear progression in the quality of the pictures – some are toddler scribbles, and the later ones show increased fine motor skills, imagination, etc. His color schemes and choice of subjects is still … questionable sometimes. Though Gimli features in a lot of the art.

Gimli does indeed live at home. He’s got a couple of rooms to himself, but they are within the family apartments. I feel that in a society where you have to carve rooms out of a mountain, it would make more sense for families to stick together a lot! Gimris and Bofur have their own rooms, though. 

Moving out at adulthood is a pretty recent Western conceit, and I like to think that Dwarves like to stick close to family. 😀

Gimizh’s pictures are pretty indecipherable at times! His imagination goes at the kind of throttle that his hand can’t quite match!

Dwalin being welcoming? But he does have his own stuff to deal with. Heh, Mother Dori. Bofur wants to see Gimli get beat up by his sister, lol. Dain wants popcorn, I think. And Frerin too. Gimris goes from shouting about his stupid to nagging on his health in 0 seconds flat! Oh, Dori. And Laerophen has no tact, and the tension rockets to outer space once again. *facepalm* A lovers spat, and they tease and forget everything else around them. Uh-oh, Laindawar might actually start growing! (1/2)

Jeri is very people smart. Bofur says: when there’s tension, ale for all! Mama’s boy, isn’t he? Once Gimizh figures out how to wrangle his other uncle, nowhere in Erebor will be safe. Gloin, stop picking a fight already, you’ve lost, Mizim’s decided. BARIS AND BANI?! Finally! Oh Dis, let yourself remember their love for you. Thorin you lump. Dis, sweetheart, you were never alone, they didn’t allow it. Bilbo, oh dear Bilbo. Officially speechless from the music. And so is everyone else. (2/2)

Thank you for answering my question! And yeah, that idea had actually been rattling around in my head since I first read Sansukh. Gimli hears them all now, thanks to Galadriel, practice, and the Paths of the Dead, but what about dwarves who are getting very old, and very close to their time. Not dead, but like one foot in the grave? So, would those dwarves, closer to the veil because they’re going to be passing through soon, be able to hear their dead loved ones? Dis’ scene is perfect though!

It’s a great idea! And you could totally headcanon the scene that way, I think!! I haven’t laid any groundwork for it, darnit, so I don’t think it will make an appearance in the fic. BUT DON’T EVER LET THAT STOP YOU! 🙂

hi, there, Dets, queen of the hobbit/lotr fandom! I know that your main ship is Gigolas, and I love it, too, but I was wondering how you felt about the pairing Sam/Frodo, just you personally? I myself am sort of up in the air about it, and I just wanted to know your opinion. No need to answer if you don’t feel comfortable, however! I hope you have a great day/evening, and thanks for all your hard work!

Awww, I do enjoy Sam/Frodo, yes indeed I do! I think that the love they have for each other is as obvious as the noses on their faces, frankly. I don’t go out of my way to read it, but I like it when I come across it!

Though, going a bit deeper – I prefer the Sam/Frodo/Rosie OT3. That’s because I really enjoy it when Rosie is given more character time. I often see her shunted to one side, ignored or fridged, or turned into a nagging baby-machine, which is not so fun to read. I like her being a part of it, as on-board and as involved as the other two.

I also kindasorta hc Frodo as Ace. The way I feel about it is: Frodo and Sam are homoromantic af together, Rosie and Frodo are QP cuties, and Sam and Rosie are physical lovers. 

That’s only my flight-of-fancy, though! Any interpretation of Sam/Frodo is generally lovely and soft and sweet. 

DETS U MAGNIFICENT HUMAN you almost made me cry while in a starbucks line with my mother just the part about Vili being with Dis every morning was really really cry worthy and you’re an aamzing writer and I really look up to you and you’re probably my favourite author because Sansukh is just so good!!!!! Thank you so so much for everything you do and also you sing beautifully!

all three brothers do, in their own ways, come around. Each way is very different. Each is a valid way of self-examining and overcoming internalised prejudice. I am! SO! Happy that you liked that!!! SO HAPPY!
