May I ask a question? Are any of the dwarrowdams more…fuller figured? Back in October, I was seriously considering getting a dress pattern and fabric to see about dressing up as on of the dwarrowdams from Sansukh for Halloween (yes I dress up to hand out candy, I’m a nerd like that), but I didn’t because I thought I’d be too heavy to pull it off. I ended up being Lily Munster, so I don’t know why I hesitated so much about the dwarrowdams, tbh, it just would’ve felt wrong somehow.
YES. THEY ARE. ALL OF THEM ARE.Â
I don’t really jive with any depiction of Dwarves as skinny, Nonnie. All of my girls are fuller-figured.Â
They have different variations and placements of fat and muscle, of course: but they’re all solid and thickset. Here’s a quick list for you, detaling some of them as I’ve come to see them, and I hope it makes you smile! I dearly hope you cosplay a Dwarf lady. I think you would be wonderful. Really wonderful.Â
– Hrera (A PROPERLY PLUMP BROADBEAM TUMMY, CHUNKY LEGS AND ANKLES, medium bosom, rolls and dimples at her wrists)
– Baris (Tummy, big bosom AND thick thighs. Soft arms just right for cuddling. Also, you ever seen a professional opera singer’s ribcage and torso? SHE BUILT.)
– Alris (SUPER STRONG ARMS, hella big hips and bum, small bosom – this lady is definitely gifted in the caboose area)
– Bomfris (a lovely Broadbeam tummy, muscled arms from archery, very broad shoulders and back, short legs)
– Fris (shortest of my girls. she has a big-hipped pear-bottom with cute pinch-rolls of skin high upon her back, and thick, soft padded arms.)
– Mizim (a famous beauty, she has a clear double chin, a sweet soft tummy, delicious thick thighs that kiss and spill against each other, abundant silvery hair)
– Orla (MASSIVE BOSOM. Like, HUGE. MASSIVELY STRONG ARMS, barrel-waisted, heavy-muscled thighs and calves, A BIG LASS)
– Dis (STRETCH. MARKS. Loose skin over her belly. Arms that have lost muscle mass for fat instead. LOOSE SKIN.)
– Gimris (this girl is a beauty like her mum! CHIN. TUMMY. LOVELY BIG LEGS. She has clearly defined shoulder-muscles from hauling around all day.)Â
I really, REALLY from-the-bottom-of-my-heart hope that this has given you some confidence and some ideas, Nonnie. I believe you would be a stupendous Dwarrowdam. I truly do.Â
OMG THE NEW SANSUKH CHAPTER IS SO GOOD. OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU ENDED IT THERE. OMG.
*meeps and hides under pillow* AHH THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!
(more really soon! next chapter is halfway finished, so expect it next week!)
I’m American but my spouse and in-laws are Australian and South African. And the seasons thing is just. ridiculous. I’m always sending them sweaters and wraps I make in December (because it’s cold, so I feel like knitting with bulky warm things) and a woven picnic blanket or a pair of moccasins (because loom and leather and beads are more comfortable summer crafting) in July. They’re good about it.
I feel this deep in every fibre of my soul, omg. I get woolly socks and scarves and stuff from our cousins overseas every Christmas – when it’s generally 35C in the shade
(nice ones tho! Useful for a Sydney or Melbourne winter trip, that’s for sure! tho the Dwarfling has generally grown out of them by the time she can use em, sigh)
*snrk* you’ve reminded me too, of a time aaaaages ago when I complained about it online: ‘god I’m boiling here, please freeze me like a WWII supersoldier PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD’Â
and someone was all: ‘hahaha there’s always one in shorts and a t-shirt in wintertime!!!’
and I was like… no, you misunderstand, I live upside down in Satan’s Armpit.Â
Thorin with his regrown beard long enough to tuck into his belt!
hee you’ve hit the nail on the head!Â
so dwarves can be poly right?
well, I think they can. (tolkien would definitely disagree with me tho)Â
what Prof T says is: Dwarves fall in love once, and if it isn’t reciprocated they devote their lives to their crafts.Â
What Prof T doesn’t say: Whether they fall in love with one person at a time. Fall in love once – okay, gotcha – but nothing says that love must be for one individual alone. 🙂
So I noticed that Thrain still only has one eye in the Halls. Does he feel about it like Dain and his foot?
Pretty much! I went with movie-canon over book-canon for Thrain’s eye (again, lmao, I jump back and forth like a frog on a hot rock).
In the book, he loses it at Azanulbizar.
In the movie, we see that it is gone before the fall of Erebor.
A lot of Thrain’s initial character motivation comes from trying to be as he was before he hared off all alone to recapture Erebor… and fell into the clutches of the Necromancer. So he appears much as he was in Erebor, at the height of its glory and power. He tries to behave that way, too.Â
(also I love Thrain and I love how badass his forehead and eye-tatts are)
Dont feel too bad about the seasons thing! You are not the only one tbh and Ill share this to prove my point: Last year for my lit class we read a bunch of poems by an Australian author (which I sadly dont remeber) where she talked about the passing of time and mentioned spring leaving on September and I was so sure it was some kind of metaphor?? I even had a very heated disussion with my teacher about it hahaha
LMAAAAAAAO oh my god, yes that absolutely does make me feel better about it!! Thank you, Nonnie 🙂
I’m just laughing now, not beating myself up or anything – what a thing to forget!!! I solemnly and sternly told myself not to forget something so danged obvious… and then went ahead and forgot it anyway…! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
AND we’re sorta bombarded with reminders that we’re topsy turvy seasons-wise to Europe/the US  – like, we have fake-snow xmas decorations in nearly all of our shop windows. In the height of OUR ROASTING-HOT SUMMER.
(hhmmm, that poet sounds like either Banjo Patterson, Dorothea McKellar or Henry Kendall – they sure loved seasons as imagery!)
Also ( god I hope i’m not getting on your nerves, I’m sorry!) there is Sam’s “And Spring in the air an’ all!” about getting home to his garden, and Thranduil staying in the mountain “even though the frosts have broken”. Are Middle-Earth season different? Canonically, Théoden is laid to rest in the middle of summer, Aragorn was just crowned a king in May. Why is there so much talk of winter being over, and then the mention of Galadriel and September? Please help, I’m so confused!
THE ANSWER IS: DETS IS AUSTRALIAN AND ALSO DUMB.Â
(September here is early Spring, you see!!! I’m gonna go fix it, promise – augh I am so sorry!)
“They remember my brother and sister, the Blue Wizards” YOU MADE ONE OF THE WIZARDS A WOMAN TOO?? Goddamn, Dets, I love you!
I DID I DID!
😀
