That guest reviewer was so fucking wrong OK, your fic is gold and wonderfully representative and I LOVE IT OK you keep rocking on Dets you are amazing

*hugs* ty, Nonnie. I’m glad you like it, you’re a gem to say so.

That was the third such ‘review’ in a few months. I received the last one when I was having a very bad day, unable to even think.

This time, on the upswing and a bit more stable, it struck me. Just, the mindboggling hypocrisy of these assholes claiming that they give a damn about people like me when their actions and words actively hurt us? When they seek out people like me in order to shout us down and speak over us? Yeah, I had a stream-of-consciousness rant to exorcise 🙂

u practically admitted thorin is awful lmao

that’s what you took away from that post??? Are you fucking serious?

Also, it appears you lack the basic text comprehension of a 5th grader. I feel bad for your teachers. Let me break it down for you, in small small words.

You say you find Thorin annoying and awful. Impression. An opinion.

I say I (and many others) find you annoying and awful. Impression. An opinion.

An impression is not reality. An opinion may not necessarily be true. I was drawing a parallel between your perceptions and mine, you complete prawn.

You are doing everything to CONFIRM my impression of you as annoying and awful, as well as ableist, rude, and vile. Go away and stop harassing people.

your thorin helped me with my depression, and i know negatives stick out far more than all the good because ive been there but please know your thorin and his struggle helped me. im not better yet, not by a long shot but i see myself in your thorin and all his anger. i’ve never been a “good” depressed person. my depression manifested as anger and aggression and so no one wants to help my prickly butt. your thorin really helped.

*hugs*

I feel you. I am not a ‘good’ depressed person either; I also have angry spells, followed by long withdrawal. We’re still worthwhile and real and good people.

I’m SO glad it helped. SO SO glad.

Story time: I was singing “Iron Hills for me” earlier and my dad wanders in and asks “Nice song, what’s it about?” and Dets, my dad’s a Tolkien nerd who knows about the Iron Hills. He left before I could answer but later he was outside and I hear “dun dun dun-dun duun-duun duun THE IRON HILLS FOR ME!” He picked up the melody so now he’s just humming the tune and belting out the one line he knows. When mom asked, he said “I like Tolkien filk” and I’m dying as I pull up the lyrics for him.

OH MY GOD THAT IS WONDERFUL, I am so so happy your dad likes it!!

(is he a baritone or a bass, that song would sound KICKASS sung by a baritone or bass)

Hey dets, have you ever dated a girl and do you have some advice on asking them out?

Yup, sure have. Don’t really have much in the way of advice, though. I’m sure it differs from place to place and country to country. I don’t understand dating the way it seems to happen in the US: it appears totally nerve-wracking. Australians don’t really do ‘dates’ to test compatibility: instead, the standard deal here is that you’re ‘going out’ with someone, and usually that entails just hanging out with them.

Talk to her. It’s not a bad idea to confirm that the woman you’re interested in is a wlw/sapphic woman. And never underestimate the power of silly humour (both to seduce and to smooth over awkwardness).

That’s all I got, Nonnie. Sorry, I am not much help, it’s been decades since i was an unattached Dets!

I too am endeavoring to reread sansukh from the very beginning … not just because I need a refresher, but also because your writing is so lovely, & watching the story unfold with such care and delicacy is a treat. bless you, author !

*stares at the words “such care and delicacy” and tries not to fly out of her skin*

AHHHHH

that is just

the loveliest compliment

ever

I’m going

to explode

*hits high D* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH THANK YOU SO SO SO SO MUCH, oh my goodness, thank you and bless you too, beautiful Nonnie, and all my love to you!!
