I had a similar to the other ace anon. I’m asexual, but more indifferent than repulsed, if that makes sense? So I skip porn by default because it’s just not my thing. I read Snowmelt, though, because I knew there would be world-building in it as well as the porn, and I’ve pretty much just been going back and forth all day because ‘porn? bleh’, and ‘determamfidd posted something new? awesome!’.

sdljhfglajshd well, I am glad there was something in it for you to enjoy!

(me, I tend towards grey-A, not repulsed, indifferent most of the time yeah, but I like LOTSA FEELS and uh… sometimes it works? Infrequently? Yeah, not easy to pinpoint or predict.)

This is why I keep the sexings separate from the main fic, to tell the truth. Bc it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Convention anon again: I was thinking about asking him about which type of medium he liked working in the best, film, television, or voice acting? And maybe what the hardest part of playing Gimli was, or being part of LOTR was in general?

I am 80% sure he would say the makeup was the hardest part of being Gimli, tbh – he has spoken at length about the awful allergic reaction he got! My fave LOTR bts story is the one of him just DEMOLISHING every Orc that came near him with that axe, not even pulling his blows, heheheh.

ooooh YES the comparison idea is fab! That’s a great one, Nonnie, and one that I think an actor would enjoy answering!

Okay, so I’m majorly excited because next month I’m going to my first convention! It’s just a small one in my state, but John Rhys-Davies will be there, and I have a guaranteed spot in his Q & A session! I don’t know what questions to ask, though, so help? What would you ask, if you were there?

*SCREAMS* YOU LUCKY DUCK, oh and JRD is meant to be an utter utter sweetheart, ask for a hug apparently he gives A+++++ hugs

okay, serious time, just my personal feelings though since you’ve asked, and a bit stream-of-consciousness here

I wouldn’t ever want to embarrass an actor by asking him about anything that disses anyone else, or anything fandomy or shipping or stuff like that. He also was not in control of the interpretation of Gimli’s character in the films – that is an authorial thing – and so I personally wouldn’t ask him if he agreed with it. That’s not his job, his job is to depict his script.

hmmm

there’s also the fact that he didn’t get the Fellowship tattoo, the only one who didn’t, possible question there

hmmmm

he’s just portrayed an Elf? In the Shannara series. You could ask him which he likes and relates to better, Elves or Dwarves, and why

hmmm

LMAO I know what I would def ask him actually

if he would very kindly record the line ‘Faithless is he who says farewell when the road darkens’ in Gimli’s voice :DDD

I would put it on my phone and it would be my alarm clock

How do you think the dwarves, both alive and in the Halls, celebrate Mother’s Day? Do they celebrate it?

goooood question.

I am not actually sure, to be honest. the current celebration known as Mother’s Day in western culture was born out of a Methodist woman’s efforts to recognise her own mother’s amazingness, according to wikipedia and history.com

I’m not sure how that ties into the whole Jewish Dwarves parallel… would anyone with more insight and experience be interested in sharing some of it? No pressure, tho.

TBH, I like that there is a Mother’s Day, but my feelings towards it are similar to the ones I hold for Valentine’s Day. It’s nice, but I don’t need a big ole day every year to tell my mother (or partner) how much I love and appreciate them. I don’t need a day for an excuse to spoil them every so often.

So yeah, with my own personal preferences stated, I like to think that (in Sansukh, anyway) someone as effusively affectionate as Gimli would be all about the spontaneous offering of affection towards Mizim. “I made this comb for you, just because I love you.” “Here’s a cup of tea, Amad.” “I made dinner! It’s only a little burnt!”

He wouldn’t need a day to tell him to do that 🙂
