Custard has at least one big flouffy pillow in her regular haunts. The fanciness varies – the one in Hrera and Thror’s sitting room is Durin-blue velvet with gold braided edging, the one in Thrain’s workroom is green-gray stripey wool, Thorin’s room has an older yellow cotton one, etc.

Finally had a chance to read the latest chapter. Kept notes on my reactions. Wait, you made me feel sorry for SAURON! Oh, Tauriel. Oh, Faramir! Ooo, cute Thorin & flustered Bilbo! Oh Hrera! Weeping because of Thranduil’s generosity. “I didn’t leave him Mister Gandalf” T_T “Un-hear” BWAHAHA! Aw, Thorin beard! Eowyn -__- LOLOL letters! oh pigs :( “Bofur stop laughing” *snrk* “don’t drink the wine stores dry” All in all, another excellent masterpiece!

eeep, yeah, the Sam moment, with the ‘I didn’t leave him’ – that was something I’ve wanted to write for AGES. So. Yep. *dodges the flying vegetables*
OOOH I am thrilled you liked the quiet little moment with Thorin and his decision about his beard! For such a short and unobtrusive little scene, it’s actually the culmination of a LOT of character threads and development, and lots of stuff that came before… like, a physical indication of just how far he has come, it’s actually a hugely big moment, wrapped up in a very small and gentle one 🙂

Yup! From the notes of Chapter 30:
Balin Dwalinul – the second of the three sons of Orla Longaxe, General of Erebor, and Dwalin, Field-Marshal of Erebor. Young Balin is only 21 years of age at the time of the War of the Ring. Balin has Aspergers, and though Dwarven society is accommodating of the needs of neuroatypical people, the siege is creating situations which are uncomfortable or even painful for someone with Aspergers, such as continual loud noises, disruptions to normal routine, and an atmosphere of constant high tension.
