*hugs* Aw, Nonnie! Congratulations! Wishing you the very best of luck!

Oooooooo-kay. I’ve gone through the dramatis personae (which can be found here), and snaffled a list of characters that I am 98% sure have not been cast and are still up for audition. Some may be too small for an audition, and therefore will be cast from existing auditionees who read for other roles. I am guessing? fuckthisimgoingtoerebor, heuristicdevice, is that right?
(a disclaimer: I am not a mod, nor involved on the production or casting level at all. So I am a flabbergasted and astonished bystander to all of this! If you have production or casting questions they should be directed to sansukhpodfic).
ALSO ALSO: check the character slides here for the list of characters that are up for auditions in this (2nd) round!
The Fellowship of the Ring
Rivendell
Mirkwood
Minas Tirith

Okay, so I offered to help people with anything to do with auditions a few days ago – and after talking with the rest of the cast came up with quite a comprehensive list of useful tips for anyone auditioning.
I’ll put it under the cut, but I hope this helps anyone who is stuck. ( sansukhpodfic determamfidd)
This is all spectacular, you are a gem for putting this together. *smooch* thank you.
It’s been said before, but here it is again:
Remember, you do NOT have to match the pitch, timbre or accent of an actor’s voice! This is YOUR version of this character, and the more natural you feel and sound, the more fun you (and your audience! ) will have!
I thought my house was empty. Turns out one of my housemates is home and probably just heard me yelling in Khuzdul.
Oops.
(i AM SORTA WORRIED ABOUT THE WORD ‘SPAWNED’ THERE HAHA)
I am incredibly and hugely and breathlessly excited, Nonnie! GODDAMN this is such a talented and creative fandom, I can’t get over it.
I’m going off the assumption that Arwen is going to have more lines in chapters that haven’t been written yet, so she’s going to be included in the audition process.
-Ricky Pulsifer
Yes, Arwen will be given more time later in the fic!
To alla you auditioning for round two: GOOD LUCK
If you are thinking of doing it but aren’t sure: DO THE THING
I’ve had dysphoria about my voice for years and never wanted to do anything to do with it. But I’ve always loved RP and reading characters, so I really wanted to do this! And I did!
So here are some of my tips ok cool:
1) record multiple recordings. I did a few (like 20…) takes for Thorin and sent off my best one – I tried a few different emotions, ways of pausing and chose things that worked.
2) decide who you really want to play. If you record for everyone because #yolo but then u cast as a character and are actually like #nolo then that’s awkward for everyone.
3) you don’t need a good mic yet. I recorded Thorin on my iPhone 5.
4) don’t be scared if you have a voice you think won’t fit. The best thing about this is that there are a load of different accents and genders of people taking part. So where you’re from or the pitch of your voice doesn’t have anything to do with this. It’s about how you read the scene and the emotion u bring.
5) if you haven’t read Sansukh, at least read the goddamn chapter you’re in. (I nearly didn’t because I hadn’t started reading Sansukh, but the chapter helped me with my emotions in that scene)
WHEN YR CAST:
5) get into the headspace of the character. It helped me as I was Thorin to spend a few days totally getting into character after I was cast. I thought more about his story and journey, read things about him, practised some of his other lines, and listened to music that reminded me of him. As Mr T is pretty deep, it helped me to stay connected to him.
Uh so yeah this is all I can think of on this train journey so. COOL
Love from Thorin
Hi Nonnie!
I think it would be absolutely fine (Pippin with a cute lisp! I think you would be wonderful). Don’t let yourself get discouraged!
Okay so for anyone who hasn’t seen the second round of Sansukh auditions have gone live tonight!
If anyone wants any audition advice from Dain Ironfoot (me :P) then feel free to message me whenever!
To anyone unsure or hesitant about auditioning I was really nervous and thought there was no point because why would I get cast out of all these other fantastic people they have auditioning and I know now that this is gonna be one of my best decisions ever! Everyone is sooooo nice and I’m making friends from all over the world, and they’re all just bonuses to getting to voice Dain in this amazing fic by determamfidd.
I’m so looking forward to meeting all the new people!
I’ll second that – if anyone would like to talk to me about the characters, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line! I don’t respond very fast (time zones hahaha + baby) but I DO respond!
The second round of auditions is live! The deadline this time around is May 1st 11:59PM EST. If you are interested in auditioning, please fill out this form first, then find the audition slides. The audition slides contain not only the lines to read for each character, but also more detailed instructions about how to format your files and where to submit them.
If you have any questions, check out our FAQ. If you still have questions, feel free to e-mail either of the mods. We’re happy to help!
Since our first round of auditions, a lot of folks have asked us for tips on auditioning. We’re not going to tell you how you should read, but here are some things to bear in mind if you’re thinking about trying out:
1. Be willing to be cast
This means that if you are auditioning for a character with a lot of lines, make sure that you can commit to meeting the deadlines the mods set for each chapter and to sticking it out for the duration of the fic. If you are cast, we also ask that you be gracious and considerate to your fellow cast members, to those who have not been cast, and to yourselves.
2. Be willing to not be cast
The worst part of working on this wonderful project for us as mods is the fact that we have so many talented people clamoring for parts and a limited number of roles that we are casting each time. We need to pick one person for each character. Casting is a difficult process, and when we cast someone, it’s not because those who were not cast are not gifted performers or that we did not like their voices.
As much as we try to emphasize this, we also understand that it is very disappointing to try out for something and not be cast. So if you are thinking of auditioning, you must be emotionally prepared to not be cast. More than anything, we want y’all to take care of yourselves.
3. Be sure to check the context of the audition slides
While we nicely provide the lines we will be asking you to read on the audition slides, you’ll definitely want to read (or re-read) the chapter in which they appear in the fic. Understanding the context in which the lines are uttered will help ground your performance. 🙂
Most of all, have fun. We are so excited to hear everyone, and we love you all. Good luck!

If you’re as excited as I am (and want to try out!!!) read the above carefully, and don’t forget to check the FAQ at sansukhpodfic for more info!!
heuristicdevice and fuckthisimgoingtoerebor – THANK YOU. You are utterly wonderful, wonderful people. I can’t thank you enough for all your work, expertise, dedication and care.
