Omg last chapter, Bilbo’s anger, thank you for that. I’m an insanely private person too, and I love Thorin and I know he didn’t mean ill, but of course it’d still an invasion of privacy for so many years. I’d be furious too (but at least they talked it out like grownups!) I just love how you address things – even if someone does something out of love, that doesn’t necessarily mean its an ok thing to do. You aren’t afraid to tackle issues <33

Oh, thank you – and yes, that’s exactly where I was going with it. It’s OUTRAGEOUSLY intrusive of Thorin, delving so deeply into Bilbo’s life, and having good intent behind it doesn’t actually wipe out the wrongness of the act. Even though Bilbo *coughlovescough* Thorin, he has every right to be furious.

Hooray for talking about stuff! I do enjoy the occasional misconception (GIMLI YOU TWIT *thwaps him*), but I am also all for talking through them when the opportunity presents itself.

(tbh I am sort of proud that Bilbo is being the evasive and furious one in that conversation, and Thorin is being the patient and emotionally open one!)

sry but…i know fandom loves angst but why do people like shipping nice characters like bilbo with characters like thorin. nice people cannot redeem bad boy jerks???

I’m laughign because you think Bilbo is a “nice character” compared to Thorin like

Ah yes, look at this nice guy and his murderous intent over the One Ring

Reducing Bilbo to one of his traits is idiotic, especially when that trait occurs just as often in Thorin often in

I dunno

saving the lives of his Company over and over again

Welcoming a stranger as practically family

But yeah you’re right. That’s not nice. That’s wholly good and heroic, which is not as great as “nice”

And if you think Thorin needs “redeeming” in any way he doesn’t already do in the films then you weren’t actually watching the same film.

So I marathoned the Hobbit Trilogy today and I did something that appears like a waste of time, but I had fun doing it. I counted how many times Thorin said any variation of Bilbo’s name (Master Baggins, Burglar, etc) and how many times Bilbo said Thorin outright. I think that the way they use their names are very important but eh. Anyways, here is the thing, I originally did a tally by hand but my hand writing is awful and I couldn’t get a decent photo
