So it’s Dwalin and Orla’s wedding anniversary, and the Dwalinuls make a cake for the (small) party, supervised by Dori. It’s a kind of ugly cake – the pan was put in weirdly, so the cake is lopsided. The icing job is atrocious; Wee Thorin tried spelling out ‘happy anniversary’ but ran out of room. Fortunately, it tastes pretty good. And Bombur made other food, which looked and taste d great,

PFFFT

but I bet it tasted lovely!!!

Some of the dwarves aren’t the greatest cooks and give their family recipe to Bombur who, on one side doesn’t want to make them bc /family recipe/ but still makes them

Awwwwww.

“Oh, it tastes just as I remember! Thank you, Bombur!”

*ducking head* “Welcome.”

“You’re welcome to keep the recipe, if you’d like. For doing us such a great favour.”

“Oh no, couldn’t possibly! That’s your family’s history, that is! I wouldn’t presume, Mahal forbid.“

“But then… how were you able to re-create it so perfectly?”

“Tried not to look too long at the book? Also, Bofur’s been pouring ale into me since sundown.”

anon who wrote the thira and thorin 3 and bomfris looking through old baby things post – Dain’s in-case-I-die letters all have many drawings of pigs, complete with lovely calligraphy naming said pigs, and while all of this is happening, Dain is watching with some of the Dead Dwarf Peanut Gallery and is in Desperate Need of a handkerchief. It is not much better when they read out Bombur’s letters, which includes Bomfris’ favorite recipes, which Thorin tries to make to cheer her up. (he fails)

OH GOD OH NONNIE

look, just. here you go.

Dori makes the cutest little soft dolls for babies and tiny kids. Some are rag dolls and some are knitted, and they’re all adorable. He has some generic patterns but will often make the doll up to resemble a kid’s family member. So, for example, baby Balin had a Balin Fundinul rag doll. (There might be plans for a Bombur one for Thorin 3/Bonfris kid in Dori’s office. Dori has made several of these since Bombur has several grandkids)

Ohhhhhhh :’) What a lovely notion, Nonnie.
