Somehow I expect that many of the baby gifts that Bomfris and the Stonehelm get are going to be pig-related. There is also a sprinkling of archery-themed stuff and some cute little forge patterns.

Now that it’s generally known that Bomfris is pregnant … Imagine all the baby stuff she and Thorin Stonehelm are getting. Some of it’s from family, some of it’s not. So we have some of Bomfris’s sibs with kids bringing hand-me-downs, various relatives/close friends on both sides bringing useful stuff, often handmade. Thorin is amazed at all the stuff that babies need. Bomfris is resigned. Jeri makes some cute crochet hats based on Thorin’s story of lack of head hair as a baby.

You know what the royal baby needs? A Bifur doll. Just like the one(s) that Bombur’s two or three youngest kids had, the ones that didn’t get to know Bifur very well before he died.

The axe is made of molded gum, and doubles as a teething ring. 🙂

Wee Thorin finds out about the Stonehelm/Bomfris baby, and is all -juts chin- another cousin to mind, hopes for the best.

I’m having feels about all the fave characters repurposing stuff after the Mountain’s reclaimed. Wee Thorin sleeps in Balin’s old crib, which is freshly reupholstered with a war-pig pattern. Oin uses his dad’s apothecary measuring set, with the one piece that Groin had in his pocket on the way out replaced. Dis gives the Stonehelm and Bomfris the royal baby jewelry, all Teary-eyed over the tiny pieces. Gloin uses Haban’s abacus.

Thorin Stonehelm didn’t have much in the way of head hair for his first year or three of life, so that he had a lot of alternative head-coverings. All sorts of little hats, especially woolly ones. Little decorative ribbons. Lots of pig-themed things. Jackets and sweaters with little hoods. It was Adorable. (There were some commissioned sketches/portraits of him done at this stage and Bomfris just lost it when she saw one of him in his little baby gown with pig embroidery, and a big blue ribbon.)

Bomfris and the Stonehelm, arguing about piglet names. Thorin adamantly insists that a piglet /not/ be named pork chop, thankyouverymuch. Eventually they decide on Snowflake, Sesame, Rasher, and Applesauce.

tis I, the angstnonnie again. Bomfris could also just name her pig Bacon, be really classy. But also: the tiny terrors pig racing. Gimizh names his pig Cookie or something. Gimizh on a pig (he probably would be dressed up as a warrior, like his uncle, Gimli). He tries to use it to steal more treats from the kitchen. Pure chaos ensues. Who thought letting him near pigs was a good idea? How did this happen?
