Fili’s last scene

Not an easy day  for a scene which is not very easy to shoot.

In spite of trying to make light-hearted comments and dead faces at request, Dean has indeed a hint of melancholia in his usually bright blue eyes.

Moreover he was  caught half way through Fili’s complex make-up, with additional scars, real blond hair mingling with fake braids held by metal pins, long beard and shaved moustache.

Later on, the Company will say goodbye to their friends, and the actors will play it along the haunting music by Giacomo Puccini from  his Madama Butterfly, the Coro a Bocca Chiusa (Humming Chorus), which will make everything even more emotional.

And then, Peter Hambleton...

Gloin, the father of a son almost the same age as Fili.

The horse Lee rode in The Hobbit, Moose (the one they CGI’d into his elk), WAS 18 HANDS HIGH. For those of you who don’t speak horse, that means his horse was 6ft tall to his withers which is the highest point between his shoulders. He actually makes Lee look smol, how is this possible??

One great thing that came out of the BTS of BOTFA is that we now have an image of what Dis and Frerin looks like!

image

And we’re lead to the conclusion that they got this image of Dis from their version of Cate Blanchett as a dwarrowdam.

I didn’t know I wanted this so badly until I saw it. @determamfidd, have you seen this yet?

*ron weasley voice* BLOODY HELL!
