Well this was supposed to be for Easterling Appreciation Week, but someone took forever to answer my very sneaky anonymous ask ;P The lovely miss poplitealqueen has been drawing people as dwarves, so I decided to return the favor XD (also now it’s a thank you for helping me through a super crappy night last night XD)  I meant to give her the piercing denoting a master artist since she said she would be a tattooist, but I realized 95% of the way through coloring that I didn’t do it right, oops >.> But I’ve never known a tattoo artist who didn’t have some of their own, so she has markings in both the blue of the western dwarves and the red of the Orocarni, as a sign of her mixed heritage ^^

Not as polished/finished as some of my other ones due to time, but I hope you like it!

For thefemalegamgee. She commissioned me to draw her as a dwarrowdam. She wanted to be a singer (I mean she already is, but a Dwarf singer as well) so I humbly obliged.

Her lip ring, which denotes the status of a master of the art of making particularly pretty vocal noises, is not my headcanon. It belongs to the lovely determamfidd. It’s just really, really, really helpful to show people are singers.

Gamgee, I imagine you would be an accomplished singer by a very young age. Your skills would be in demand from Ered Luin to the Orocarni, and–hard worker that you are–you would have taught yourself oodles of languages and dialects to sound authentic anywhere you go. Whether it be a grand voice booming in opera houses of Gondor, the silky warble of the Elves under moonlight, or the deep thrum of the Dwarves like the sound of stone itself, you would sound…hella.

(And I really think the diligence and commitment to your craft would reflect the dark-name I came up with for you… Atrâtulerzûkh. Vigilant Rain, remember? :3)

Another one done!  I’m on a roll xD

Bomfrís, everybody’s favorite socially awkward little sausage from Sansûkh ❤ After I did Stonehelm I figured I had to design her too xD A lot of people have given her the circular Bombur beard, so I wanted to experiment with making her look a lot more like him than my Barís without doing that.  There’s some of her mom in her too, in the eyes and when she smiles (which is lovely, if you can catch it XP), but she definitely has her Da’s nose and hair.  I wanted to give her a simple hairstyle she could do herself from a pretty young age (with so many kids, there wasn’t always time for her mom to help, so she got used to it), and messy since she doesn’t care that much about it (the ravens don’t care if her braids are in order XP).

I definitely wanted her to have her own look without being really conventionally pretty- I think it’s extra cute that she’s not a famous beauty like Gimris, but that as soon as Stonehelm sees her it’s just like “ah yes she is perfection *heart eyes*.” XD (That’s his courting bead back there in her hair ;P)

Gimris did get some mommy-training-time in with Bombur’s youngest kids, though. The youngest ones weren’t too old when she married Bofur? (She’s not unprepared for teenager stuffs. Knowing Gimizh, she’s not prepared, but not unprepared). And oh man, since Uncle Bofur is such a fan favorite, she probably got to know all of the brother-kids well.

Yes, Gimris definitely would have been helping young!Baris out with her army of siblings! 

For reference, Baris is 136 during LOTR. She was born in T.A. 2883. Gimris is the younger of the two, at 133, born T.A. 2886. (Gimris is 8 years younger than Gimli).

I imagine that, being two little lasses in Ered Luin, they would have been very fast friends from a young age. Baris is a sweet warm cheery retiring sort of girl, who likes to laugh. Gimris is very funny and witty and charming – and would quite happily bite the knees of anyone who took advantage of her friend’s kind nature. 

(She also would have cut people into ribbons with her sharp tongue if they had dared suggest that a girl from a well-to-do, noble family should not be spending time with poor Broadbeam riffraff.)

Baris’ youngest sibling Albur is only 78, nearly half her age. So you can imagine that when Gimris visited her friend she would have been put to child-watching immediately! She’s watched all of her friend’s massive family grow up, really (including all the pains and dramas that involves). As Baris’ utterly stunningly beautiful bestie, she would also have had to deal with a couple of starry-eyed kids being all moony and gushy over her.

Baris’ house was CHAOS when they were growing up, and so they spent a great deal more time over at Gimris’ house anyway. This also allowed Gimris the opportunity to slip a couple of rolls or a sweet into Baris’ pockets, or ‘lend’ her a hair-clip or dress and ‘forget’ to ask for it back. Gimris is not very good at speaking her softer side – but she is very very good at demonstrating it!

Gimris and Baris are best friends, right? Does Gimris ever call Baris her “little niece” just to wind her up? omg does Baris ever call Gimris “auntie Gimris” when she needs something done?!

Baris only ever called Gimris ‘Auntie’ once.

The look her friend gave her was enough to make her wish she hadn’t ever done so. Not because Gimris was cross, oh no. Because she looked gleeful.

Ever since, Gimris has teased Baris by calling her ‘dear little niecey’ and ‘our Baris’ and the like, just to watch her normally rather cheery, jolly friend roll her eyes and scowl in mock-annoyance back at her.

Gimris is a snarky younger sister. Mock her at your peril. Older siblings, be warned.

(it’s actually not all that annoying – and who knows? Snarking with Gimris might build a bit of Baris’ social confidence. She’s not very assertive when she’s not onstage, after all.)

Yay, more dwarf ladies!  I love Barís Crystaltongue a lot (I get the feeling this is a popular opinion ;p) and I always thought the description of her traditional performer’s ornamentation was really pretty.  This is definitely not chapter 37- I’m thinking a much happier song, maybe at a festival or something.

Barís has the complexion and hair of her mother Alrís, but in features takes after her uncle Bofur and grandfather Bomfur more than her father, which was the subject of much good-natured teasing as she grew up (luckily the next few looked much more like their dad XD).

Also I’m gonna say that I really hope she gets her lady >.> I hate seeing her pine and be sad
