could a dwarf presumably create artifacts greater than the silmarils (perhaps moreso) with ease?

urrrrrrrrrrrrgh Nonnie…!

Maybe not with ease! Feanor was a genius. He was probably the most gifted smith/creator/inventor who has ever ever lived in all the history of Arda. Tolkien goes out of his way to say that Feanor was the most amazing: “For Fëanor was made the mightiest in all parts of body and mind: in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding, in skill, in strength and subtlety alike: of all the Children of Ilúvatar, and a bright flame was in him.

But the Dwarves have had geniuses too. A good example is Telchar.

Telchar was a smith of Nogrod, one of the cities in the Blue Mountains in the First Age. We know of three of his astonishing works. Angrist, the knife that could cut through iron. The Dragon-Helm of Dor-Lormin, which had enchantments on it to protect the wearer from wounds. And lastly, Narsil, sword of Elendil, which was re-forged for Aragorn and re-named Anduril.

He was pretty boss 🙂

Well I don’t believe I can put a picture on here but I’d just like to share. I was on LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online, an epic game) exploring Moria and I stumbled across a group of dwarves and one of them was named Frar! So I basically flipped and started looking desperately around for Lóni. Didn’t find him, and it’s set some time after the Fellowship passes through, but still… *feelsy sigh*

He must have been very frantic to not know where Loni was!

Awwww, that’s fantastic! It sounds like a great game! Unfortunately I am scraping at the clock for more hours in the day already – wish I could have a moment to play games. LOTRO sounds exactly like my cup of tea, and I’ve seen so many cool pictures from people who play it 🙂

lacefedora:

beat up and bloodied Pinup Gimli (for determamfidd it’s all her fault). This series is gonna be fun I can tell.

The previous character in the series is >>Dain<<

who do you guys wanna see next?

GUH

hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Oh LACE, he is positively delicious!!! Oh my word, hummina, come here you lovely bit of Dwarf beef, you absolute hunk of hottie. HAIR. ARMS. DAT SMILE. TUM. *ducks head into barrel of water* HMMMMKSJGDLSHJGDLJSH

Thank you, thank you I AM SO HAPPY TO BE THE ONE TO BLAME RN

You know, I actually remember when the most evil thing you had done was make us care about the dwarves that died in Moria… BEFORE THEY WENT TO MORIA! Though the newest chapter was very nice (and I mean that in the way that it didn’t make me cry).

That WAS pretty evil, I’ll own up to that. I am living up to my title of ‘Evil Cream Puff.’

(But hey. Tolkien gave us all these lovely names in the Book of Mazarbul! Loni, Frar, Floi, Nali – I just HAD to expand on that!)

I’m so happy you liked the new chapter, Nonnie! Thank you so much!

aviva0017:

More ALEP singing XD I ended up (drunkenly) singing the setting I’ve been working on of determamfidd‘s Song of Beginnings from Sansukh the first night of the event, and everybody loved it (both the lyrics and the music) and ended up asking me to (drunkenly) sing it again the second night.  By the end, people were joining in with the last line of each verse, it was kind of wonderful. ❤

(I’m actually working on a choral arrangement of this, I was trying to sort of keep it hidden til then, but that preview I put on soundcloud has like a gazillion plays for some reason, so fuck it XD)

(ngl Avi, half of those plays on soundcloud are probably me XD)

Sweet merciful GOD. *shivers*

Okay – first, your voice. You have such a beautiful, beautiful voice. There is such a gorgeous, pearly, clear tone, and you have amazing control and brightness – it’s right into the mask there, and your vowels and phrasing and pitch and rubato and OHGOD *clutches face* AHHHH it is so BEAUTIFUL. *flails at you very intensely* AVIIIII

SECOND: THE TUNE. OH MY GOOD GRAVY. People are joining in with the refrain, just. GAHHH. It has that solemn sacred feeling, that magical depth and vastness, the simplicity of plainsong, the grandeur of a hymn, the plaintive ache of a song that promises acceptance… one day. The repeated high motif before the refrain makes me tear up each time, I am not kidding.

Blessed be Mahal and the mercy of the Avi One.
