At some point after he arrives in the Halls, Dori accidentally tries to mother Hrera. There is a massive indrawn breath. Everyone waits for the inevitable explosion.

LOLOLOL, OH DEAR! I love it Nonnie! Everyone waiting for Hrera to blister Dori with the sheer force of her personality.

Except the explosion probably wouldn’t come.

Hrera would be all

There is a collective, unspoken “uh-oh.”

And then she would suggest, rather stiffly: “Dori, dear. Tea?”

And Dori would likely draw himself up and nod, and there would be tea and maybe cake. Polite, stilted conversation would eventually become sympathetic nodding as they chatted about the utter impossibility of relatives. And the Halls would quake, because that is one hell of a formidable team.

(Hrera understands. This is something she has in common with Dori, in fact. She understands that urge to care for people that is so powerful that you cannot help but become a fusser. She understands what it is like to ache for those you love, never able to care for them ever again. And she understands what it is like, those first few months having them back – how all-consuming it can feel, how frantic the need to look after them, look after them. She gets it.)

Oh dear I just had a sad idea after doing that drawing. Baris looks a lot like Bofur, and you said that she was especially close to him- so I imagine when she was little and Bombur and Alris were busy he would look after her or take her around town with him. And because she looks so much like him people would mistake her as being his. He would laugh it off- probably joke that he has no idea how such a lovely little lady is related to him at all- but inside it would remind him how badly he

Thank goodness Bofur meets Gimris and the most awkward courtship in history begins. But. 

All those years watching Bombur’s family grow and grow – can’t remember how long, but it’s seventy years at least. All those years, all those kids, and Bofur wistfully dreaming of his own one day and never seeming to find it. Augh.

Yay, more dwarf ladies!  I love Barís Crystaltongue a lot (I get the feeling this is a popular opinion ;p) and I always thought the description of her traditional performer’s ornamentation was really pretty.  This is definitely not chapter 37- I’m thinking a much happier song, maybe at a festival or something.

BarĂ­s has the complexion and hair of her mother AlrĂ­s, but in features takes after her uncle Bofur and grandfather Bomfur more than her father, which was the subject of much good-natured teasing as she grew up (luckily the next few looked much more like their dad XD).

Also I’m gonna say that I really hope she gets her lady >.> I hate seeing her pine and be sad

Sweet merciful Mahal, I’ve been productive this weekend! O__O

-Narvi (are you surprised?) with a to-scale model of Minas Tirith. Since she can’t do anything about the actual city she decided to carve it out a huge block of marble. I just liked the idea of it.
-The one thing Narvi and Thráin can agree on. (They probably have more things in common than this, they just don’t acknowledge it.)
-A quick illustration for the latest chapter (number 37). Narvi was glaring at the Pool “as if trying to solve a puzzle”. Had to draw it.
-Re-designed Kárkad’s beard.
-A small part of a comic I’ve sketched out. We’ll see when I finish it.
-Me after this weekend. I’ve spent the last two days either knitting or drawing, and from the right angle my black circles look enormous.
-This is old! I started it in 2014! It’s supposed to be Mahal’s forge, though I’m not sure how well I captured it.
-Nienna! Really liked how her face turned out. The mist/smoke appeared because I didn’t want to draw her feet.
