You had a post a little while back on the idea of Georgian-dancing-as-Dwarvish-dancing and how awesome it would be if they did it with ceremonial weapons? Such a thing does actually exist! :) Can’t send a link in the ask, but if you look up the “Parikaoba” dance on youtube, there’s some fabulousness to be had.

AHHHHHHHHH

YES

Please watch, if you like dancing and/or Dwarven dance ideas, bc OH MY GOD

HERE’S ONE THAT MADE MY HEART STOP

I kind of want to see a story about an elf; tall, beautiful, clumsy as fuck, and an industrial worker who can’t do archery to save themselves and swears all the time.

And I kind of want to see a story about a dwarf; short, robust, hairy, elegant, sweet, very refined and a lover of poetry who’s never said a rude word in their life.

I just think it would be an interesting change of pace.

they’re girlfriends

they’re super fucking cute and i need more of this.

Sorry if you’ve answered this somewhere, but is there a reason Gimizh is an only child? Like did Gimrís and Bofur look at their little terror and mutually decide “no more” or is that just how things worked out for them?

No worries, Nonnie! Happy to help!

Here’s the answer, written aaaaaall the way back when.

The side-fic I am referring to in that answer is ‘Cry Uncle’ btw. I should warn for discussion of childbirth as well as SADNESS GALORE for this fic – but it does include some cute Gimizh, and Gimli and Gimris being loving/bickering siblings, teeny Fili as a Total Sweetiepie, and Gimli as Uncle Extraordinaire 😀

thorin isn’t That stubborn my dudes

Dwarves, as revealed in Tolkien’s works, are a stubborn people. But in most instances, it’s not the bull-headed belligerence that the fandom likes to perpetrate on Thorin (or the others, for that matter). There is some of that, but more often than not, it’s a stalwart refusal to give ground on principles that have carried them through some pretty rough treatment during their time in Arda. It is a protective wall they’ve built because they have had to endure so much tragedy and misjudgment and injustice. They aren’t intentionally bastards to other people, they’re just cautiously guarded until they know that it’s okay to drop that guard and give freely of themselves to whomever touches their hearts, i.e., Gimli with Legolas and Aragorn during the Fellowship, and of course, Thorin’s eventual trust for Bilbo and Bilbo’s contribution to their quest.

Sansukh worldbuilding question. Do “regular” people know if they’re the reincarnated version of someone who died very young? Obviously Durin (and possibly the other 6 progenitors if they get reincarnated) know that they’re /them/ … eventually. But for your average Joe, who doesn’t have any prophesy or signs or whatnot, do they know that this is their second time on the merry-go-round?

Hey Nonnie!

Nah, I don’t think they do. They’re as whole a person now as anybody else. Their previous ‘possibility’ is not more important than their current reality. YMMV, though, this probably holds true for most, but not all Dwarves. It’s a tricky and sort of vague area!

I did a voice recording of the song/story of Kári Orc-Hewer!

There is some buzzing, some robotics going on and my oh-crap-it’s-almost-midnight-English pronounciation, but hey!

oh good gravy, your voice AND this poem are almost more adorable than I can physically handle…! This is so lovely, THANK you!!
