U: What’s your least favorite part of the writing process?  Why?

The final edit, when it’s so nearly done, so nearly ready,  and I’m impatient to post the damn thing and move away from it. I have to stop and breathe a lot, talking myself through it, counselling myself to be patient and stay focused on what I’m doing or I’ll miss something. But I just want it DONE AND FINISHED, GOTTA PAY ATTENTION THOUGH AUGH, CAN i POST PLS. I am not always fab at self control!

Another thing I dislike about the process is bloody, BLOODY formatting – but that’s terribly fanfic-specific, I guess! 

I got tagged by the amazeriffic @elenothar to post 7 lines of a WIP… but (confession time) I haven’t started on ch42, and probably won’t until after next week. Work is MADNESS atm. MADNESS I TELL YOU.

So here is a composition I have been working on for the last couple of weeks? I am hoping that 16 bars equates to seven lines… um. Anyway.

It’s called Light on the Horizon, and this section is right at the end. I am not giving away the lyrics juuuuust yet!

And yeah, it’s for Sansukh 🙂

Tagged by the lovely @holyfant (thanks!) to post seven lines of (one of) my current WIPS.

Have some of the next (and possibly last) chapter of lay down your sweat and weary head, as proof that I am actually still working on that just VERY slowly.

Frerin nods and then draws Thorin into a rough hug. “You take care
too, Thorin. I don’t want to return to find that someone has assassinated you.”

He raises a brow. “Why would someone want to assassinate me?”

“I don’t know,” Frerin grins, “but it is you we’re talking about here…”

Thorin sighs, a long-suffering sound long perfected. “Hilarious.”

Frerin is already nearly out the door when Thorin calls after him. 

“Oh and
Frerin? You can tell Dis and Fíli and
Kíli that you’re leaving.”

Frerin’s groan can probably be heard in half the mountain. “You’re
a cruel, cruel dwarf, brother.”

4: Are there any other fic writers you admire? If so, who and why?

Oh yes, definitely, SO MANY. In the interest of keeping things vaguely short I’ll restrict myself to one or two from my active fandoms:

 – deadcatwithaflamethrower for SW because HOLY SHIT PERFECTION (their Re-entry verse is a must for anyone in the fandom), with an honorary mention for norcumi and dogmatix and their wonderful AUs

– determamfidd for the Hobbit because Sansukh is one of my favourite fics ever

– bracketyjack for Tortall because of Lady Knight Volant which is brilliant and long and really well-researched

– ikeracity, pangeasplits, yahtzee63 and etharei for X-Men, again because of brilliant AUs

5: How many words can you write if you sit down and write intensely for an hour?

I’ve never actually checked, but I think it’s somewhere around 2000, depending on the day. I’m not a particularly fast writer, sadly.

Ohmygod ohmygod wow thank you so much I absolutely adore your fic and this is just making me feel so giddy ahhhh you are one of my fave authors, I am thrilled that you enjoy sansukh!
