‘He sounds like a very strange creature, this thief of yours,’ said a young Dwarf called Fili (Thorin’s nephew, as I afterwards learned). ‘What is his name, or the one that he uses?’
‘Hobbits use their real names,’ I said. ‘The only one that he has is Bilbo Baggins.’
‘What a name!’ said Fili, and laughed.

Dis headcanon: Dis tried to keep busy while Thorin, Fili, and Kili were away on the quest, so she decided to make something for each of them. For Thorin, she added jewels to a dagger he’d made, runes for protection and a long life. For Kili, she had someone make a beautiful case for his art supplies and bought a few new ones, replacing ones that needed it. For Fili, she made him a few new beads for his braids (he was so proud of his mustache braids). She couldn’t look at them after the battle.

*whimpers very quietly* aaargh.

I had a sad HC and wanted to share the misery. Vili watching from the Halls, watching Dis, of course, but watching his boys growing. Starting to cheer Fili on when the he first starts his lessons, before realizing that his son will not hear him. Beginning to encourage Kili and give suggestions to Dis when she moves him from nursing to mushy food, only to realize…he’ll never be able to do that. Most of his memories of his sons (pre-battle) come from watching them and knowing they won’t remember

THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR

Oooh, ANOTHER Headcanonpalooza! That makes this one Part 8!

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7,

(seriously, if you need a smile, read through these. They’re all SO. DAMN. CUTE.)

FAT BABY FRERIN IS GODDAMN REAL AND TRUE. and aaargh, little scowly Fili with the important little stare, that outraged toddler stare is the absolute best.

Awww, and I really feel Dori’s pain here *looks sadly at where orange crayon has yet again been applied on the walls and couch and doors*

It’s been established that Thorin does Bad Uncle Dancing, but does Dain do Bad Dad Dancing? Do Thorin Stonehelm, Fili, and Kili cower in a corner, complaining about their family?

Dain would be the BEST Bad Dad Dancer. No shame whatsoever. He gets REALLY INTO IT.

Fili would probably be face-palming next to the red-eared, cringing Stonehelm…

but lbr here, Kili is probably dancing as well, with even more enthusiasm and gusto than either Thorin OR Dain. Likely on top of a table. Bc he is a nerdy happy puppy

What if people in the Halls keep waking up with Custard in their hair? Thrain will regularly wake up with Custard using his hair as a nest, purring away. Fris has it happen sometimes. Thorin is sure that Custard thinks his hair is Best For Naps, considering how often he wakes up with a cap draped on his head. Thror goes down for a nap and finds his beard full of kittycat when he wakes up.

This would totally be the opposite of a problem, for me i love cats

I’m fairly sure that Fili has had enough of Custard waking him by batting at his moustache, though… 😉

*whispers* i know you probably have a Lot to write and do in Real Life but if you ever feel like writing about how fili and kili arrive in the halls (esp cuz you do a mix of book and movie canon so it would be even more interesting re: their deaths) i would love that a lot and also i am apparently a masochist and i love everything you do! please feel no pressure or anything twas merely a thought

Aaksdhgflsjgalsjhfda IT IS A GREAT THOUGHT THANK YOU SO MUCH

*adds it to the list as well*

Seriously, these Appendices are gonna end up catapulting my word count somewhere over the rainbow (I am okay with that!)

And then comes the day that one of them (or both) look at Vili for approval and Vili is happy and so is Thorin bc they finally have their father and just augh. These dworfs give me feelsy feelz

SO MANY FEELS. Ohhhh gosh, absolutely yes. ❤

(I adore my version of Vili, I am not too embarrassed to say! I like to think that Fili took longer to warm up to him, but in the end was the first one to look for Vili’s approval and pride in him. Augh. AUGH)
