THE ACCURACY IS BLINDING 😉
Wee Thorin would DEFINITELY win. His scowl is a thing of epic grandeur. Grown Dwarves have been known to take a step back from it.
Balinith is an expert at the flat, level, unimpressed, ‘I am going to ignore the drivel pouring from your mouth’ stare.
Frerinith would certainly try, but would absolutely end up giggling. When Frerinith gets mad he gets all pouty and red-faced and crumply. He is a master of the “massive-indrawn-breath… HOLLER WITH INDIGNATION” art-form.
Gimizh can scowl. It’s not bad. But it’s nowhere near on the level of his friend. The thing to watch out for with Gimizh is sad puppy eyes. They are devastating (and he knows it, the lil shit hahaha).
Awww, Nonnie, what a lovely image!
He does still have them! Unlike a traditional game (in which the horse-chestnuts get cracked) the special Dwarven set that Bilbo gave him were coated in resin and cut into two halves, each fitting together snugly so that it would fall open if struck – but not shatter. Rather like the join around Russian Nesting Dolls.
They are also painted in the colours of the Company’s hoods, btw 😉
Balinith is a bit of a demon at conkers. He squints at them until he has decided which way he will throw, and click! His chosen target is lying in its two neat halves. He always wins. Dwalin is very proud. Gimizh is very annoyed.
Frerinith is also a demon – but mostly that’s because he’s not so much invested in playing the game as he is in chucking the chestnuts at his brothers. He’s definitely smack-bang in the ‘THROWING IS NOT NICE, FRERIN!’ stage of his life.
Gimizh would absolutely ROCK those stripy stockings. ❤

PERFECTION I LOVE IT
OH OH OH OH YES
does this make Frerinith Carlos or what
SO SO PLEASED.
(Except he also gets to go through the whole ‘look I’m still cute NO I’M STILL CUTE I SAID LOOK AT ME’ stage lolol. Being the youngest and then suddenly NOT being the youngest can be both good and bad!)
They do! I love that you like that about them! Yes, I deliberately injected a couple of similarities. 😉
Though Wee Thorin is the exasperated, put-upon, voice-of-reason friend (I think if he were on tumblr his most-used tag would be ‘GIMIZH NO’ – and Gimizh would answer gleefully ‘GIMIZH YES’), he does have a very mighty scowl!
Balinith is nowhere near as silver-tongued or diplomatic or even as gregarious as his namesake…. but he is very very good at getting to the bottom of things.
And Frerinith is a bubbly, sunny little fellow, yes – but he is also a bossy little boots and very imperious. He loves to get his own way!
I like to think that Dori, Dwalin, Gloin and Bofur & Bombur write to Bilbo on the regular 🙂
(Bombur and Bofur write theirs together!)
Bilbo would giggle at Dwalin’s letters, particularly at Wee Thorin’s descriptions. He knows a young Took who would get on with this Gimizh like a house on fire. Screaming, smoke, people running away – that sort of thing.
(He’d absolutely write back with a few pointers for Balinith, possibly after a little chat with Hamfast.)
