so the latest chapter of the ever amazing Sansûkh went up not too long ago, and i’m.
i’ve only read through the first section, and i cannot stop smiling. i probably annoyed my sister with my giggling and gasping and full out snorting at the predicament Gimli and Legolas have got themselves into.
i am so grateful for this chapter.
Christmas time always sucks for me (yay seasonal depression! -_-), and not even 5 minutes before i got the notification that chapter 45 had been published, i was having a liiiitle bit of an episode™
but this chapter
just. the absolute love that shown in Gimli for both his family and Legolas and his regret that he may have hurt any of his family but his unapologetic firmness in his love for Legolas that not Mordor itself could stop them.
and Legolas wanting SO. BAD. to make a good first(and second) impression with Gimli’s family and the quiet acceptance he has of his father’s feelings towards his relationship with Gimli.

Look, we’re all on tenterhooks wondering what will happen with @determamfidd and Sansukh, but it’s fairly safe to say it’s going to end with a wedding feast?

And so, Legolas and Gimli are understandably terrified at the shenanigans that will ensue at said wedding feast, considering their respective relatives but!

They did not count upon the Master Cookie Thief.

Now, really, Gimli should’ve expected shenanigans from his beloved and mischief-loving sister-son but he wasn’t prepared for this level, the kind of shenanigans that would also cause Thranduil Elven-king to have kittens. 

And cookie-crumbs on his elegant robes. 

Because, really, Thranduil Elven-king was said to be delighted with precious jewels but nobody expected that his true weakness would be discovered and exploited by one clever little dwarven badger of the line of Durin.  (Read: Chocolate and Caramel Chip cookies)

Also, Thranduil Elven-king was rendered helpless considering his own son was aiding and abetting the Master Cookie Thief of Erebor in raiding cookie jars under the mountain. 

Legolas discovered this for himself when he found cookie-crumbs in Laerophen’s hair!

And thus, Erebor, the Greenwood and Dale were suitably distracted from the “billing and cooing” of newlyweds Legolas and Gimli because they were too busy howling for justice over their depleted cookie jars!

Gimizh plans to raid the Shire next, with his faithful and loyal Elven apprentice.  He may have allies in the persons of the young Gamgee children.

“You’re out of grapes”-BWAHAHA. Oh, Dis, mithril heart and spine. Okay, I’ve never had such emotion reading the part about Arwen and Frodo, or Gimli and Eomer resolving their conflict before. So many feels! ARAGORN REMEMBERED BOROMIR’S PROMISE OF PENNANTS!! Pippin + Glorfindel = headaches. Dain understanding Hrera better than Balin? Priceless. Oh my heart. Breaking along with the fellowship. You. Left. It. On. A. Cliffhanger. This will either go very badly, or very silly.

Eeeee so thrilled you liked the way I took the canon sections and twisted them! The Frodo and Arwen meeting has always struck me as a bit too loose, so I pulled it tighter, and the Eomer-enters-as-King moment has always felt too pat. I mean, the guy was 3rd Marshall of the Riddermark – Theodred was the one groomed for the crown, not Eomer. So, I made it more about him going ‘WHOA THIS IS REALLY. REALLY OVERWHELMING.’ – and then the Gimli scene is his escape from that, heh! (ALSO GIMLI YOU SMOOTHIE. ‘My heart is given to the morning’ YOU SMOOTH SMOOTH BASTARD.)

YEP, THAT’S RIGHT. BOROMIR’S ‘WHITE TOWER OF ECTHELION’ SPEECH. I WENT THERE. I REFERENCED IT. 

(“I would see the glory of Gondor restored. Have you ever seen it, Aragorn?

The White Tower of Ecthelion, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver, its banners caught high in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?”)

oh you just know Pippin and Glorfindel ended up dancing on the table together at some point. 😀
