it’s so sweet and hopeful, and then it goes creep creep creep and then you can HEAR the ‘oshit RUN!’ parts! It’s so GIMIZHHHH ❤ and the instrumentation you’ve chosen is awesome!

I suppose the chance of Gimizh ever becoming an older sibling are in the slim-to-none range? (You mentioned some slight medical issues re sibs early in the fic, but I’m not sure how long-lasting those were meant to be)

Gimris did not have an easy pregnancy or birth, poor girl. She probably isn’t sold on the idea of going through it again.

Also – I think most of Erebor might actually cry in terror if Bofur and Gimris announced they were having another one. 

But the reason behind Gimizh being an only child is a little more meta than that, too… I mean, the Dwarves ‘do not bear nor bring forth’ easily, etc etc. I had a bit of a think about this. They are a diminishing race, even at the time of LOTR. They are about to go through their last great period of glory post-Ring War, before they disappear during the Age of Men. So, with all that in mind, I think that very small families would have been the norm. Thorin’s own family, with three siblings born within 20 years, would have been considered quite large. Two children seems to be the most common, judging from the Company’s lineup!

(different anon) No seriously though, Great Uncle Thranduil. Thranduil realizing that being uptight and unfriendly to that little fuzzy creature is making not one but TWO of his sons unhappy. Thranduil gradually defrosting. Fast-forward to Thranduil SPOILING HIM ROTTEN and becoming Gimizh’s new favorite weird tall blond great-uncle. BUT THRANDUIL DENYING EVERYTHING WHEN CONFRONTED BY ANYONE ELSE BECAUSE HE IS STILL THRANDUIL.

AWWWWWLJSDLJADFLAJ that is the absolute cutest.

Tho Gloin will likely self-combust again, heheheheh.

Dear Dets: has it occurred to you that at some point, Laerophen and Gimizh are going to end up related? (like nephew and uncle in law or something, idk, the point is that if the words “Uncle Laerophen” are uttered in this fic, I will die (happy) of feels. (Bonus points for Uncle Laindawar being confused as hell).

AWWWW UNCLE LAEROPHEN. I think Laerophen himself might just explode with joy, myself! Laindawar will likely be all “…wut. NO.” Gimizh, of course, would continue with unabated enthusiasm. 

Yes, I’ve thought on it once or twice! In fact, thanks to the enormity of Gimli’s family, there are very few members of the Ereborean cast that will not be related-by-marriage to Laerophen. 

Imagine Dwalin’s face. Just imagine it. Heheheheheheh.

(And now imagine Dwalin realising that, logically, he is now related to Thranduil. )

Gimizh probably gets a bunch of odd jobs and deliveries and stuff? He’ll get payments in stories and candies and new learning. And if he has his friends with him, they do stuff as well (except for Frerinith, who often hangs out with the adults doing cuddles). This way Gimizh knows a lot of people all over and has a really good mental map of the Mountain. He especially likes following Dis and Gloin and Dori around.
