Gimli and two elven kids in the West
I’m sure that Gimli would spend a lot of time with kids telling stories about Middle Earth and they would listen to him with a big interest. Because they really like him and he tells stories more emotionally and spectacularly than Legolas or Olorin.

Why isn’t Gimizh allowed to sing Gimli’s Ered Luin Mining Song? Is there some metaphor I’m not getting?

It’s implied that there are more verses to the song… and some of them are not safe-for-kids. Gimris is trying to limit-set Gimizh’s natural interest in such stuff

(she is not succeeding, bc some things are universal when it comes to pre-teens – and a fascination with naughty words is pretty high on that list.)

(ALSO – consider that Gimli wrote it when he was basically a teenager himself. This means he was that kid who makes up dirty little songs to make his friends laugh)

“A fine hunt you have led us! Two hundred leagues, through fen and forest, battle and death, to rescue you! And here we find you feasting and idling – and smoking! Smoking! Where did you come by the weed, you villains? Hammer and tongs! I am so torn between rage and joy, that if I do not burst, it will be a marvel!”

“You speak for me, Gimli”, laughed Legolas. “Though I would sooner learn how they came by the wine.”

… Gimli has no chill and Legolas just proved that he is his father’s son.
