The cast is all doing little introductions, so here’s mine! With a picture for reference; here I am when I’m not busy being a dwarf.

Here is our our amazing Gimli! Mmmm tzatziki. Mmmm.

Whilst trying to distract myself from sad feels I have myself…a sad feel. You said Vili was a stone mason. Was the rune stone Dis gave Kili as a reminder of his promise to return perhaps some simple little thing Vili made for Dis once, and she hoped ‘Maybe this time’ when her youngest laughed at her concern just like Vili. But the damn stone came back to her alone. She almost gives it to Gimli when he and Gloin set off for Rivendell, but no. She carries it to battle and thinks Maybe this time.

AUGH

And yeah, I wrote a headcanony thing on Vili in which he is particularly good at making rune-stones. BECAUSE OUCH. 

I hope you know it is impossible to read Sansukh without falling boots over beard for Gimli. He’s so attractive it’s unreal. His heart, his words, his character, his skill, his everything. I feel for Legolas, poor sod, I really do — all of the parts of your fic where Gimli appears I simply gaze and admire and love and grin enormously like an utter fool.

GIMLI SON OF GLOIN OMG

So I am p sure I have mentioned at length how much i love this guy. When I first read the trilogy a zillion million years ago, he was instantly my fave. He is all alone, the only Dwarf we ever meet after the Council of Elrond. He is superbly skilled, such an amazing warrior. Aragorn wanted to take him alone, and Sam and Frodo, to Mordor! He is so loyal – so incredibly faithful, it is staggering. AND POETIC, holy shit, no wonder Galadriel gets squiffy. I think I actually cried real tears when I first read the Glittering Caves speech. He feels everything so keenly it is unreal – we’re forced again and again into his viewpoint through the book as Tolkien refers to past events, and he just FEELS LIKE WHOA. He’s just a beautiful soul, a beautiful character. He has his faults: headstrong, stubborn, too eager to take offense, quick to think the worst, pessimistic and arrogant at times. But he is forever my star, my fave, I love him so much. 

And I was far too young (13 or so?) to know what ‘shipping’ was, but heck if I didn’t immediately say ‘Gimli and Legolas TOGETHER FOREVER NO TAKE BACKSIES’. I have read fic after fic where Legolas is the super-hot catch of the Third Age. NOT TO MEEEEE. 🙂

I am thrilled I can bring a bit of my love for Gimli out there for everyone to see. Yeah, I am a bit of a loser about him!

I’ve been watching LotR extended edition and I spent half the movie wondering whether at certain parts Thorin would be sputtering and losing his marbles all over the place. Particularly when Gimli and Legolas are on their little boat on the river and talk about Galadriel’s hair.

Do you think Gimli had any body piercings?

Yeah, I love that bit of fanon! I think Gimli has piercings along with his tatts. Some cool and unusual ones, like subdermals on the back of his neck, barbells through nipples, and ear-rings. (also – other places hem hem) 

They’re not small or discreet, either: these are proof of extreme badassery, after all! Lotsa jewels for special occasions. 

I love the body-mod Dwarves thing. Like, a lot.
