(this is tshirt anon) LOVE IT. im just imagining aragorn’s face when one of them gives him the tshirt at a christmas party and get hella turnt afterwards, since he (of course) is the designated driver. (gimli’s “i’m with stupid” shirt is amazing tho like at family gatherings he counts how many times he can make the arrow point towards thranduil without him noticing, while gloin tries his hardest not to burst out laughing)

Since we have no idea what Groin was doing during Azanulbizar, I posit that he was with the combat healers, as was Oin (if Dain and Dwalin and Gloin were there). It was one of Groin’s greatest regrets that he was on the opposite side of the field when his wife, brother and sister-in-law died, even though he knows he couldn’t have saved them. Groin then found himself with four dwarflings (his sons and nephews) to take care of by himself, while stopping his cousin Thrain from doing anything stupid

Happy headcanon: Dwalin totally writes back and forth with Bilbo, has done so for years. He lets his kids put in a bit of stuff as well. Frerin scribbles, maybe puts an “F,” Balinith goes on about his newest project (currently growing beans), and Wee Thorin talked about his pie heist for half a page.
I like to think that Dori, Dwalin, Gloin and Bofur & Bombur write to Bilbo on the regular 🙂

Bilbo would giggle at Dwalin’s letters, particularly at Wee Thorin’s descriptions. He knows a young Took who would get on with this Gimizh like a house on fire. Screaming, smoke, people running away – that sort of thing.Â
(He’d absolutely write back with a few pointers for Balinith, possibly after a little chat with Hamfast.)
Now I’m imagining Gloin and Bombur and Dwalin conspiring to have a kid visit Dori and Dis at least every second day so that they know that they had at least one nice conversation. Even if it’s about someone bringing her a pie (Barur), talking about the amount of dirty socks left in someone’s bed (Gimizh), or the bean plant which finally sprouted (Balinith).
