So people have been asking you about daemons and the characters. Not sure if you’ve thought about it at all but which HP houses would you choose for your characters? (despite people wanting to put Bilbo in Ravenclaw I’d actually think him more natural in Slytherin. And Thorin in Gryffindor for obvious reasons)

I personally hc Bilbo as a Gryffindor, and I completely blame @linddzz for my love of Slytherin!Thorin 🙂 But the thing about HP sorting headcanons is that it’s so subjective, and so many characters can fit into more than one house without stretching the imagination!

Do you think twins – such as Elladan and Elrohir – would have the same daemon? Or would they be polar opposites?

ooooh, um so bear in mind that I am not a twin. 

From what I understand of daemons, they are an animal personification of a person’s soul, yeah? And even if you are genetically identical to someone else, you are not the same person. You don’t have the same soul. 

So nah, I don’t think twins would have the same daemons. Some twins might have similar daemons? But not the same.

Dunno about polar opposites either… depends on the pair of twins in question! In Elladan and Elrohir’s case, they do have many similarities, and so the manifestations of their souls would have some things in common. Here’s my idea for them. I’ve given them both seabirds, though there are some interesting differences as well as similarities. Size, for one!

Elladan – 

Arctic Tern (long-lived, naturally protected from parasites and predators, incredibly long-distance migrator for years at a time, FANTASTICALLY protective of nest and young, to the point of aggression)

Elrohir – Great Shearwater (possibly the longest-lived bird in the world, AMAZING eyesight, long migrator, echoing night-calls, ‘shearing’ flight pattern like a knife carving through the air, can dive down from above quite far into the ocean, RIDIC BRAVE)

Idk if this ask went through … So picture Beri and Genild the avid quilters. They met at a quilting bee/quilter’s meeting. So cute. Such a practical and pretty activity. They make quilts as gifts. Jeri has so many. Dain got a pig quilt or three. Quilts for royal baby. Dis has a line-of-Durin quilt.

Aww, I can see Beri taking up quilting, after Jeri is grown and they’ve gone up in the world, and she’s no longer a soldier and has the leisure time and the funds to take up a hobby… but my sincere apologies, Nonnie, it’s not Genild’s sort of thing at all!! 

But here’s this: I can imagine Beri trying to teach her… and Genild glaring at it. Like, forever. Because urgh, fiddly, and takes-too-long and MAHAL ALREADY can she go do something that isn’t sitting down for hours and stabbing herself in the thumb a hundred bloody times?

Beri would finish off the quilts, chuckling to herself, probably, as she unpicked every clumsy stitch. 

(the sounds of Genild huffily smacking pots about in the kitchen as she begins on “something useful” – translation: cooking up a batch of her spicy fish stew -echo down the hallway. It sounds rather as though Genild is using the pots and pans as practice weaponry. Beri would grin down

I’ve gotta ask after seeing all your other posts about daemon headcanons: do you have any ideas for the elves? Like Thranduil? Is his giant elk his daemon? Arwen? Elrond? Celebrimbor? Galadriel? Celeborn? (and basically anyone and everyone you have ideas for?)

OOOOH my first reaction was to agree that yeah, Thranduil’s daemon would be his Elk… but it keeps popping into my mind that perhaps he is one of those rare people whose daemon takes humanoid form? And then a notion struck me that perhaps… Galion…?

Do you have any daemon headcanons for the older Durin extended family? Like, some of Fris and Thrain’s generation? Thror? Also. Fundin and Groin’s daemon’s get into noisy arguments. (It’s a running joke that Fundin and Dweris both have owls – spectacled and great horned respectively)

Now that it’s generally known that Bomfris is pregnant … Imagine all the baby stuff she and Thorin Stonehelm are getting. Some of it’s from family, some of it’s not. So we have some of Bomfris’s sibs with kids bringing hand-me-downs, various relatives/close friends on both sides bringing useful stuff, often handmade. Thorin is amazed at all the stuff that babies need. Bomfris is resigned. Jeri makes some cute crochet hats based on Thorin’s story of lack of head hair as a baby.
