so the latest chapter of the ever amazing Sansûkh went up not too long ago, and i’m.
i’ve only read through the first section, and i cannot stop smiling. i probably annoyed my sister with my giggling and gasping and full out snorting at the predicament Gimli and Legolas have got themselves into.
i am so grateful for this chapter.
Christmas time always sucks for me (yay seasonal depression! -_-), and not even 5 minutes before i got the notification that chapter 45 had been published, i was having a liiiitle bit of an episode™
but this chapter
just. the absolute love that shown in Gimli for both his family and Legolas and his regret that he may have hurt any of his family but his unapologetic firmness in his love for Legolas that not Mordor itself could stop them.
and Legolas wanting SO. BAD. to make a good first(and second) impression with Gimli’s family and the quiet acceptance he has of his father’s feelings towards his relationship with Gimli.

I’m going to (sort of) echo another commentator: as a Jewish person, the parallels with dwarves are so, so, so obvious, and it does bother me sometimes–I try not to let it too much, but it does–when fanfic authors don’t pick up on that. (Everyone’s interpretation is valid right? But when they don’t even notice, I’m sort of like, hello? how do you seriously not see this?) So I was really glad you did, and that you dealt with it so well. It’s just another thing I love about Sansûkh.

DETS I READ MITHRIL IN HIS BEARD AND I THINK I LOVE YOU. I thought it’d be sad bc mortals aging and all that, but then it was just Legolas being all hot and bothered bc of the steaming hot dwarf he’s been married to for fifty years asahdasjff AND THE SMUT WAS SO GOOD, and I also really loved all the shorter parts before, with Legolas observing the changes in his friends and Gimli, and them living their bright future in a land with safe roads and good cross-kingdom relations, AND SAM’S PART AAAHA

AHH NONNIE! you’ve made me so happy to read that! That was part of the plan: that it would at first seem like an ‘oh no – mortality! (DUN DUN DUN!)’ fic, and we’d be bracing ourselves to see Legolas being all sad about it….

…and then Legolas would totally flip the script by basically going, ‘NOPE, TWICE AS HOT NOW, HOW DOES HE DO THAT,’ and jumping Gimli’s bones, lmao.

SO STOKED YOU LIKED THE SMUT! I had fun with the brinkmanship and the sheer non-humanness of them this time around 😀 Very experienced pair this time – as opposed to say, ‘Snowmelt’ in which they don’t know a dang thing about each other! So much talking and joking, though. These two never shut up, even in bed!

I am so so thrilled you liked the opening build as well! Awww, Sam, I love him forever, brave sweet bab. I love just how much he gave to his home, I really do, he’s just amazing. And hooray you liked the glimpses of the happy and prosperous future! I think I really like writing in the Aglarond-era, dazzling city of the White Mountains, I gotta do it some more ❤

The best enfolding, bone-squeezing, I’m-so-glad-to-see-you, my-arms-are-a-safe-wall-for-you, holy-shit-we’re-alive-we-made-it hugs? Gimli. 

The best silent and still and peaceful hugs, the breathing-slowly-together hugs, the ones which make your shoulders loosen and your heart gentle? Legolas.

The best comfort hugs, the cry-it-out hugs, they-can’t-get-you you’re-safe, your ear upon his heartbeat, rocking ever so slightly hugs? Gimli.

The best joyous hug, the one that sweeps you off your feet, full of sunlight and laughter and twirling and leaping, the celebratory hug to rule them all? Legolas.

(however, they’re both equally good at the you-are-the-dearest-thing-in-this-world-to-me, you-are-so-wonderful, I-could-hold-you-forever hugs, the ones which say I love you over and over again.)
