Day 12: 7 scenes/moments that made you cry

1. McGonagall shouting no when Harry’s supposed dead body is brought out of the forest – ‘“NO!” The scream was the more terrible because he had never expected or dreamed that Professor McGonagall could make such a sound.’ – Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. J.K. Rowling

2. Finnick’s death at the hand of the lizard mutts in the tunnels below the capitol (book version) – ‘Far below, I can just make out Finnick, struggling to hang on as three mutts tear at him. As one yanks back his head to take the death bite […] I slide the Holo from my belt and choke out “nightlock, nightlock, nightlock.” Release it.’ – The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay. Suzanne Collins

3. Rochelle’s death – ‘I will never forget the look on Ethan’s face as he runs out of the forest with Rochelle’s body lying limp in his arms, a golden arrow protruding from her chest’ – Guardians of time trilogy, The Key. Marianne Curley

4. The female titan murdering squad Levi – Shingeki No Kyojin/Attack On Titan

5. Dáin’s death – ‘Dís sobbed, anguished and uncaring. “Dáin, nadad, stay,” she begged him. “Stay!”“Sister-mine,” Dáin said gently, and touched her face with one bloodied finger. “Look after ‘em.“She gazed at him through her tears, her face open in a silent cry of grief."O I dre…” Dáin managed in a tuneless whisper, and his breath now hissed and bubbled through his mouth. From his nose ran a thick, slow rivulet of blood. “Dream… of jagged… rusty skies, an’ her… savage… wild beauty…”“I can’t watch,” Frerin choked, but he did not turn away. With terrible dragging gasps, Dáin fought for his last words. His once-bright blue eyes were fixed upon some distant sight with endless longing. “I see her when… I close my eyes…"The old voice faded. The grizzled white head slowly drifted to one side."The Iron Hills for me,” Dís finished, rusty and halting. Then she lowered her face into her hands with a broken wail.’ – Sansukh. @determamfidd

6. Fred’s death – ‘"No no no!“ someone was shouting. "No! Fred! No!” And Percy was shaking his brother, and Ron was kneeling beside them, and Fred’s eyes stared without seeing, the ghost of his last laugh still etched upon his face.’ – Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. J.K. Rowling.

7. Wheeljack, Ratchet, Prowl and Ironhide’s deaths – Transformers generation 1 movie

As the mods of sansukhpodfic keep saying, they love your voices. They LOVE them. To not be cast in this round? Doesn’t mean this is a personal indictment of your voice. This is not a rejection of your voice. It means that there was someone who they felt fit THAT ROLE. There are more roles. There are SO many more roles! Your voice? Is perfect for one of those. Believe me, and believe in yourself. This is only the second round.

You are awesome, and your voice is awesome.

Look at that list up there, k? It is LOOOOOONG. And it isn’t.

Even.

All.

of the characters still up for grabs. LOOK AT THIS COMPLETE CHARACTER LIST. JUST TAKE A PEEK. HAVE A LOOK. IT GOES ON FOREVER.

*hugs* It’s okay to be disappointed. It’s understandable. Your character is still out there, waiting for you to bring them to life. Your voice is beautiful and valuable, and so are you.

So I just finished Sansûkh

jen-tak-trochu:

or, y’know, what’s been posted so far%)

And I have two prevalent emotions:

Sadness – because there’s not more yet

Love – because it’s truly so magnificent I want it as a proper book on my shelf! I would cherish it and it would hold a place of honour right next to Lord of the Rings.
Because it complements it so well! It’s so masterfully written. And it’s just…!
LotR’s got the “action” down pat, but its emotions, while powerful, are sort of, I don’t know, filtered. Here? They’re raw and real and the very core of the story and that’s absolutely perfect.

Also, a very nice surprise – the angst really wasn’t as bad as I feared. It’s constant, true, but it’s not actually the kind that suddenly fells you and leaves you broken up inside for days( yes, some stories managed that before…). I seriously expected some big punch that’d make me feel scraped raw, depressed and weepy for days. That didn’t happen, thankfully. Because while I love powerful emotions in stories, I also sort of hate them when they’re really overpowering.
The emotions in this piece are just perfect.

I’m actually feeling a bit of lost, though. What do I read now? What can even compare?

That’s not overdramatic exaggeration. There’re books and stories I think I’d like to read more than once or twice. I know I will read Sansûkh again, several times.

It really IS that good.

…now, if only I felt brave enough to overcome my anxieties and drop a comment to the author… I know the comments are important… one day I’ll stop being so nervous and shy, I will! …but not today, I guess…

oh my godddd thank you. Thank you so so much. This was so touching, and I am so grateful and thrilled that you enjoyed it. I’m just absolutely floored by your beautiful words. Thank you. Thank you.
