aviva0017:

So naturally, I had to Tolkien-ize at least one Christmas song this year. ;P This is effectively a retelling of the same story as Gimli’s Song of Durin from FotR, but I figured that most Christmas music is the same story retold lots of different ways anyway. ;P Binamrâd is the Khuzdul word for “deathless,” and given that it is listed as a noun and not an adjective, I took that to mean that it was a name. Might record later with harmonies if there’s time (I love the chords in this song a lot), but right now I have to run away and do family things. XD Happy holidays, everyone! ❤

-shivers up and down spine- OH AVI IT IS GLORIOUS

I wanted to say that you are awesome ^^ Also I wanted to ask a question: Do some dwarves in the halls call Mahal ‘papa’ or something? And if yes then what does Mahal think about it?

Ahhh thank you!!! You are also awesome! :>

Ohh great idea! I just did a bit of a trawl on the Khuzdul dictionary, and came up with something.

And here it is: many in the Halls call Mahal Ze‘adad. It means first-father. It is often customarily shortened to Ze’da, an affectionate mishmash of Khuzdul and Adunaic that would translate roughly to ‘First Da’.

He not-so-secretly loves this name.

Now I’m thinking of a Sansukh AU where not only does Dain die, but Thorin Stonehelm as well (for story’s sake assume no baby or Bomfris dies), and Dwalin ends up becoming King Under The Mountain. It would be … interesting, especially with how long he lives. (Also Crown Prince!Wee Thorin)

that is a LOT of dead Dwarves, yikes!!!

Dwalin as King Under the Mountain, good gravy. I think he would do his best… and i think he would have hated it a lot, Dwalin has always been so loyal to others, he is a perfect second-in-command but not a leader…

I can just imagine the shade of Balin nearly in tears at his little brother’s attempts at ‘diplomacy’. I mean, even Thorin, Mr “ishkh khakfe andu null!” himself, has more tact. Under Dwalin’s rule I expect that the relations between the Mountain and the Wood would rapidly deteriorate!

Amad Kurdulu

Hello Nonnie! I will be mum, if you like. I am getting better at it!

(Stand up and stretch for me, k? Have a quick tidy of your room, it’ll reduce the effort of cleaning later. Have you drunk water today? I LIKE YOUR HAIR. Also, you are awesome and you have the best smile ever.)

motherfuckingbagginshield:

I am thrilled to finally unveil this amazing piece of music that has been composed for my fic Azhâr and will be featured in the upcoming chapter. This is a lullaby, tamâm
mebrul, and you can read more about its origins in chapter five!

Special thanks go to love-is-a-two-place-predicate who translated my English lyrics in Khuzdul, to laer-aewen who not only wrote the music with Sam Hubbard, but who is also the singer of this piece of music, and to aswiftsunrise who cleaned the house without complaining while we all composed it despite her parents coming for a visit on that day!

Please check out laer-aewen‘s website here, as she will be publishing more content in the upcoming future!

Thank you for your time and enjoy this gorgeous piece of original music. If you enjoyed it, please also give some love to laer-aewen and love-is-a-two-place-predicate for all their hard work!

neo-khuzdul-translator:

So, it’s going to be a while until the translator comes out, and until then, I thought that I would take the time to take manual translation requests from you guys for your convenience! I’m totally down with Neo-Khuzdul and some Sindarin (Quenya is completely out of the question, oh my god), and you can just drop a word / phrase in my ask box for now. I promise I’ll do my best with translations and try to send them back to you as soon as I can! 🙂

You guys can send them to the translator blog or my main blog, doesn’t matter to me!

khuzdul4u:

in honour of the new Chapter of Sansûkh, the one fanfiction that made me look a bit closer at Khuzdul, have one of my favourite sentences from Chapter 37 in Khuzdul:

Nî zarâl zud kasatôn barathgalât, amma sullu zamakhrabi!

(literally: “If wishes should be pigs, we all would ride“)
