I’m having a bunch of Eomer/Fili/Kili feels. Because Eomer’s position is similar to both of theirs – he’s the king’s nephew, the second heir, and is responsible. Fili and/or Kili could easily have been in his position if things went a little differently in the Hobbit.

Sansukh headcanon: Kili, after he sees/hears about Tauriel’s death, keeps it quietly to himself, not wanting to endure the pain of her loss coupled with the disapproval of his family. That’s why nobody understands why he spends the next month or so wandering through the tombs, where the dead awake in the Halls. “Nobody has died recently” they tell him, and are relieve when he finally stops his seemingly aimless searching.

Do Fili and Kili ever make things for all their newfound relatives in the Halls? Like the dwarf equivalent of all the macaroni art they missed making for their dad?
Yeah 🙂 It’s their preferred way of apologising, actually: by making an apology gift. Kili refers to it in one scene.
Hrera is totally the grandma who has a pocketful of sweets for her grandchildren (and any other kids who get close to her). She also keeps a bunch of three bites or less foods around her and Thror’s apartments and work areas – which can only be eaten upon continued good behavior. Kili once managed to not stick his foot in his mouth for an entire day to keep eating Hrera’s spike cookies.
