Oh man this is still a mess. Will be more of a three panel comic when I finish. Based on that scene from chapter 34 of Sansukh. I asked determamfidd for a request and this was it =). I hope she can enjoy it. I had so much fun doing Thorin’s tattoos. Dets was kind enough to tell me where Thorin’s mourning marks might be. And I designed one for each loved one lost. I will get a clean scan of this up tomorrow when my printer should be working.

Thorin’s heart momentarily stuttered, and then it began to gallop.

“Oh,” said Glóin, and then put a careful hand on Bilbo’s back. “I’m sorry, laddie.”

Bilbo waved a hand. “It’s all done and over now,” he said, and smiled, though
it was very wobbly. “It’s not really the done thing around here, sad to
say, and he wasn’t… well, he couldn’t… anyway. I’m odd enough as it
is; I don’t really need any more rumours flying about the place.
Goodness knows he wasn’t the type of fellow to settle here in Hobbiton.
He’d have caused a general panic!”

“Not a Hobbit, was he?” said Bofur softly, and Bilbo stiffened.

“I’ll… I’ll just see to another barrel, shall I?”

He scurried out of the door, and Thorin stared after him. His head was spinning.

Faux screencap for Sansukh chapter 4. I debated with myself a lot on how to Make Thorin look but I’m fairly happy with it. In infused a bunch of starscape brushes into his coloring and made him slightly translucent. He’s blue mostly because it stood out the best against the background of Bag End.( may or may not have fiddled with it until almost 5 AM this morning.)

I hope you like it determamfidd. I might do a marker version later when I have marker paper again.

THAT IS INCREDIBLE. That is so beautiful! THORIN OH MY GOD, I love the starscape effect so much! BILBOOOO OH LET ME HUG YOU, POOR SAD HOBBIT (i love that he actually looks like an adult too, asdjgfskdjhfsak gorgeous) your background for Bag End is AMAZING! I can’t get over how beautiful it is: not imposing or taking away from the two figures, but so warm and perfect.

Still a lot of work to be done. Based on a scene from chapter 4 from Sansukh. Going for a screen cap look with this one. Will be colored in the next day or so It’s going to be fun to try to convey insubstantial Thorin!

OMG I almost forgot Gimli’s mourning Tattoos! Now with Kili’s crest peaking over the left shoulder blade!

EDIT: (updated 10:30 PM PST) Added Gimli’s coming of age tattoos (top band) and Warrior’s mark (bottoms band with the diamonds). Entirely made up by me. (small headcanon that maybe Dwarrows comes up with the pattern for their coming of age tatt. Also the diamond pattern inspired by the diamonds on Dwalin’s knuckles I figured maybe they were his warrior’s mark.)

Somewhat shakey, but still clean line art for these two(now with Body hair!). Would have made it nicer but my shitty tablet died. Height has been adjusted and is much closer to accurate now.

shit this came out better than I expected. It was so much woooork. Started off just working on it to see if I could do size difference(I live for height difference parings man) without it looking silly. I’m so pleased with the results!(though in all fairness Gimli should probably be a few inches shorter. maybe he’s up on his toes!)
