The mental image of Legolas and Larophen at a line of Farin family dinner presents itself. It is cute.

eeeeeeee…!

Ohgosh, yes omg. So cute. Gloin and Dwalin’s families, Gimris all ‘…huh. Always knew Gimli was cracked.’ Gimizh asking ALL THE QUESTIONS. Bofur laughing himself hoarse. Gloin caught between ‘LOOKIT MY AMAZEBALLS FAMILY’ and ‘ohgod where did i go wrong’. Mizim mothering everyone impartially, trying to feed up these Elven skinny streaks of nothing. Orla, impassive-faced as always, but dying of laughter on the inside. Dwalin eating more cookies than Gimizh. Wee Thorin wanting to know about the battles, please, idc about the stupid love story, tell me about the battles! Laerophen wrangling Frerinith who clambers all over him and chews happily on his long elven-blond hair. Balinith staring at Legolas for a long moment, and then announcing, “your brother is taller than you.”

Legolas just smiling dumbly at Gimli. Gimli smiling dumbly back. “Welcome to the family, lad.”

The image of Laerophen being a baby-dwarf magnet is kind of amusing. He probably goes and helps out with the kids a lot when he’s not doing war stuff? The littles are cute, and he can free up people for other work. Laerophen also likes telling stories and helping kids learn stuff.

He would too! He’d at first try to read from a book, I think – but the constant repetition of ‘why?’ would soon force him to throw it aside and make up his own epic yarns ❤

Omg but like. When Laerophen finally has to go home, he’s just gonna be SWARMED by kids hugging his legs and crying into his hair and messy baby kisses and omg. Omg I need a moment.

I like it Nonnie! But… Well, that’s more his life in Erebor, tbh – Laerophen is very solitary when he’s at home. He sticks to his library, and doesn’t really mingle much. Not because he’s unfriendly, mostly because he’s not naturally social.

Also, he mentions that the last child born in the Greenwood was 100 years ago… he’s not all that experienced with kids! He was a grown adult when Legolas was born, and wasn’t terribly involved with his upbringing. There’s a gulf there (as those of us with big age differences between sibs know). It’s not that he doesn’t love Legolas – just that they didn’t share many common experiences. He looks at his little brother like a mix between a miracle and a ticking bomb.

It’s one of the reasons why Gimizh is SUCH an astonishment to him.

When Laerophen has learned a little bit about how to actually deal with dwarves, does he sort of shyly go to Bomfris (hoping she’s in one of her good moods) and offer to show her a few of the wood-elven archery tricks? And they snark at each other but eventually fall into a weird friendship that’s like 60% archery competitions, and Laer is so proud the first time she beats him

AWWW THAT IS A PERFECT IDEA. I can see them falling into a bickering sort of friendship, consisting of one-upmanship, snarking and eye-rolling (and unspoken affection, because Bomfris is all ‘urgh emotional display, urgh’ and Laerophen is a bit ‘how do relationships work?’)

More Laerophen + Dwarfling headcanons. *Balinith totally ropes Laero into helping with Science Stuff, since Laerophen is very well read. It is calming and happy times for both of them, with only a small side dish of shenanigans. *Laerophen once spend four hours with Frerinith napping on his chest, too awestruck to move. *Laerophen enjoys doing music stuff with Wee Thorin, and they play together. *Laerophen once got stuck in a small corridor following Gimizh on a cookie raid. Bofur fished him out

MEEP TOO CUTE AHHHH

The Dwarfling Troupe totally drag Laerophen into their plots. Balinith is fairly easy, being all “Can you reach that thing on the high shelf?” etc. Frerinith gets Laerophen to carry him around for extended periods, enjoying traveling in state at such heights. Wee Thorin usually helps Gimizh use Laerophen as leverage. “But Barur, we told Laerophen how good your pumpkin pie was and he wants to try it!” *puppy eyes*. Also going places that they mightn’t be able to otherwise b/c they are supervised.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

oh god, oh no. Laerophen, you have been kidnapped by pure adorable evil. Beware!
