YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS BAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I like it Nonnie! But… Well, that’s more his life in Erebor, tbh – Laerophen is very solitary when he’s at home. He sticks to his library, and doesn’t really mingle much. Not because he’s unfriendly, mostly because he’s not naturally social.
Also, he mentions that the last child born in the Greenwood was 100 years ago… he’s not all that experienced with kids! He was a grown adult when Legolas was born, and wasn’t terribly involved with his upbringing. There’s a gulf there (as those of us with big age differences between sibs know). It’s not that he doesn’t love Legolas – just that they didn’t share many common experiences. He looks at his little brother like a mix between a miracle and a ticking bomb.
It’s one of the reasons why Gimizh is SUCH an astonishment to him.
“Gimli’s bigger.”
“Well, Gimizh has cookies.”
“Gimli sings and dances!”
“Aha – so does Gimizh, muindor*!”
“He makes me laugh.”
“And so does the little one.”
“Mine’s more dangerous.”
“Are… are you sure about that?”

Muindor – dear brother
LOL, I didn’t go into the kind of detail on those brothers as I have for Sansukh’s Laindawar and Laerophen – those Elves were basically me playing with the idea of having Legolas as not-an-only-child. FOATA was me testing the waters in a lot of ways: it was my first LOTR fic ever, and I was experimenting a bit with style and narrative and characterisation. Those two Elves are the proto-Laerophen and the proto-Laindawar, really. They barely turn up for more than a couple of sentences, so I didn’t need to go to the in-depth lengths of character-building I spent on the Sansukh characters. Sorry I can’t give you more detail on them!

This is a possibility, Nonnie! The party’s where it’s at, after all.
(Just for laughs, though: your ask made me wonder if Elves would then logically refer to North as East? East as South? South as West? Have they, in fact, turned the compass 90 degrees clockwise?)
idk, I don’t pay too much attention to that aspect of the movies, really. I am much more tickled by the Captain Obvious Legolas stuff. That’s a little character tweak I can get behind: makes him feel a little natural and flawed and real rather than perfectly-perfect… and perfectly boring.
LOL, that does seem appropriate!

Look at this family of nerds. What a bunch of loosers!
Will redraw it digitaly later, so please exuse the crappy phonecamera for now. >A>EDIT 05-04-15
Updated with a scanned version. Now you can actually see them properly! 8D
Yeah, absolutely! Looking forward to reading it, Nonnie! 🙂
