Did you know that was seriously surprised to find out that you were Mahal? Because when I first listened to the podfic I could have sworn they caught Paul Bettany somewhere. You-as-Mahal for some reason reminded me greatly of PB-as-Vision…

Ohhhh that’s pretty cool! Haha, I normally speak quite fast and I sound SO Australian, and that really didn’t jive with how I think Mahal sounds, so I played around with metre and timing and delivery. Before they put the effects on my voice, I sounded a bit like a Galadriel/Elrond hybrid. 😀

(STILL HAVEN’T SEEN AOU – gaaaaaah it is seriously hard to get three hours alone, tbh. Will probs have to wait until it is released online, grrr)

christmashippo:

Sweet merciful Mahal, I’ve been productive this weekend! O__O

-Narvi (are you surprised?) with a to-scale model of Minas Tirith. Since she can’t do anything about the actual city she decided to carve it out a huge block of marble. I just liked the idea of it.
-The one thing Narvi and Thráin can agree on. (They probably have more things in common than this, they just don’t acknowledge it.)
-A quick illustration for the latest chapter (number 37). Narvi was glaring at the Pool “as if trying to solve a puzzle”. Had to draw it.
-Re-designed Kárkad’s beard.
-A small part of a comic I’ve sketched out. We’ll see when I finish it.
-Me after this weekend. I’ve spent the last two days either knitting or drawing, and from the right angle my black circles look enormous.
-This is old! I started it in 2014! It’s supposed to be Mahal’s forge, though I’m not sure how well I captured it.
-Nienna! Really liked how her face turned out. The mist/smoke appeared because I didn’t want to draw her feet.

OH HIPPO I LOVE THEM ALL BUT ESPECIALLY THRAIN AND NARVI GIVING SAURON THE BIRD

THANKYOU THANK YOU SO MUUUUUCH ❤

Mandos and Aule sitting around chatting about all their dead tenants. Mandos keeps complaining about how Feanor keeps charring the carpets b/c he won’t hover his whole disembodied-flame thing high enough off the ground.

LOL, Valar having cathartic bitch-sessions over a drink (or nine, hahaha!)

“…won’t stop burning stuff, I swear to Eru, I’m going to have to resurface everything with fireproof material and install showers in all the ceilings.”

“Try gypsum, it’ll cut down on the damage. And ugh, I feel your pain, I’ve got one that trashes his room on a regular basis.”

“Don’t suppose you’d lend me some of your little guys? Resurfacing the whole of the Halls is going to take a lot of work….”

“Nah, they’re all watching Middle-Earth and taking bets on the outcome. They’re absolutely obsessed. Also, I’m not sure that adding Dwarves to the situation would cut down on all the uh, inflammatory incidents.”

“Fair point.”

morranperedhel:

This is Valar number two for determamfidd. This is my drawing of Mahal (Auze) the Valar of the Dwarves.

OMG! I love love LOVE those ‘cracks’ all over his skin, like stone that has split, that is amaaaazing! And woooooot that topknot! Thank you, thank you SO much!

For all of her dislike and animosity towards dwarves, does Yavanna try and comfort Mahal whenever something terrible (like Smaug, the Battle of Five Armies, the battles and siege during the War of the Ring, etc.) happens to them? She knows how much he loves them, and how he feels when they’re hurt, so would she try?

Well, she doesn’t HATE hate them. It’s more like how a gardener feels about greenfly or cabbage moths. You don’t HATE them for doing as their nature dictates – but holy heck you wish to FUCK they would stop. Lots of growling and grumbling. Little hairy pests.

But Yavanna does love her husband, and what hurts him makes her sad for him. She will comfort and care for him, no matter what – and she will even find a seed of pity in her wild thorny heart for those little bearded infestations. They do suffer so.

You’re an awesome Mahal! Although, I’m not going to lie, the echo-y tone of voice threw me for a minute, but as the chapter went on, it made more sense and seemed to fit. It was so cool to wake up to the first chapter of the podcast, I read the first chapter of Sansukh along with it when I listened to it.

Awww, thanks! I am absolutely steamrollered by cagethesongbird‘s work on the effects, they are AMAZING.

(it was actually p hard to get myself to slow down. I normally talk quite fast, and my Australian accent is fairly broad! I’ve been joking that the result made me sound a bit like a Galadriel-Elrond hybrid. Galadrielrond. Heh!)
