5 things that make me happy

Another meme thingy! I was tagged by the brilliant battlepig herself, flamesburnonthemountainside. Love you, Battlepig.

1. The Dwarfling. Has there ever been a cuter little button? A more fascinating person? IDK, if there is, I’ve never met ‘em. (don’t laugh, I’m allowed to be totally in love with my baby) I will act the absolute fool just to hear her laugh. It’s the sweetest sound in the entire world.

2. My family! Mr Dets, my mum and dad, my sibs, my nan, Mr Dets’ fam. We’re all a bit messy and bruised and not the slightest bit perfect, but put us all together and we’re a happy sort of explosion.

3. My cat! My darling ancient duchess. She is a patient old crank (unless it comes to food, urgh) and is a sweet-faced smoocher. Loves a pat. So so so friendly. 

4. My friends. From my bestie of 27 years to the new mums I met through the ABA, from my students to my fellow teachers, everyone involved in Sansukh and podficcery and creative shenanigans, and all my wonderful friends here on tumblr – we don’t always talk regularly, but I consider you all very dear friends.

5. Bouncing off the previous – creative endeavours. I enjoy writing. I love music, be it singing or playing or composing (listening to music can send me into ecstatic tears, I am a sap, yes, yes I am). I enjoy scribbling about (even though I am no artist hahaha), I love to dance and to choreograph, I ADORE acting, I like sewing, I absolutely love to cook. Basically, yeah. There we go!

1.Why did I choose my url?
It’s a mashup of my name and the word ‘determined’. A little reminder to myself to locate a spine, one of these days lol

3. if you could own a fictional/fairytale pet, what would it be?
Hmm. Maybe a mistcat? I remember reading Terry Brooks when I was a teenager, and wanting one.

Blue and red 🙂

NO, I will not pick a favourite, d’you want the others to feel jealous?

6. Top five fandoms?
LOTR/the hobbit, Avengers, Terry Pratchett.. although LOTR/The Hobbit probably counts as three fandoms, considering how much time i spend on it!!

7. Why do you enjoy tumblr?
I love mah friends. I genuinely believe I am a better and more aware person because of many of the things I have encountered here on tumblr. And having a place to flail madly about the things I love without facing an awkward silence or taken-aback look is sorta awesome, tbh.

Name: Determamfidd

Average hours of sleep: Hmmm, very variable. The Dwarfling sleeps through the night and wakes between 5am and 6am most days (although this morning it was 4:45am urgh) which is p average for a kid her age. I try to go to bed between 10-11pm? But I occasionally have a Killer Attack of the Very Wakeful Brain, so yeah, not always. 

Last thing I googled: how to escape people who play the victim

Nicknames: Dets.

Height: 5′3″ (tall for a Dwarf, short for a giraffe).

Favourite colour: Blue! And also red.

One place that makes me happy: My backyard. It’s nice. Particularly on a lovely spring afternoon, with the rainbow lorikeets squawking madly from the surrounding trees.

Favourite film: Oh damn it. Augh. Uh. Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, The King’s Speech, Galaxy Quest, Spirited Away, LOTR, and there are lots lots LOTS more but don’t make me get up and look at my bookshelves, it’s too far away.

What am I wearing right now: Jeans and a striped T-shirt. I am tres classy.

Last book I read: I just re-read ‘Night Watch’ by Terry Pratchett, one of my favourites. I am re-reading lots of his work rn. *sniffles* Vale Sir Pterry.

Most used phrases: At the moment? Probably ‘who’s a silly sausage!’ bc that’s what I call the Dwarfling. Or ‘shhhhhhh’. 

First word that comes to mind: feet. My feet are cold.

Last film I watched in a theatre: Botfa. I don’t get to the movies all that much. I will DEFINITELY be going to see AoU though.
