5 things that make me happy

Another meme thingy! I was tagged by the brilliant battlepig herself, flamesburnonthemountainside. Love you, Battlepig.

1. The Dwarfling. Has there ever been a cuter little button? A more fascinating person? IDK, if there is, I’ve never met ‘em. (don’t laugh, I’m allowed to be totally in love with my baby) I will act the absolute fool just to hear her laugh. It’s the sweetest sound in the entire world.

2. My family! Mr Dets, my mum and dad, my sibs, my nan, Mr Dets’ fam. We’re all a bit messy and bruised and not the slightest bit perfect, but put us all together and we’re a happy sort of explosion.

3. My cat! My darling ancient duchess. She is a patient old crank (unless it comes to food, urgh) and is a sweet-faced smoocher. Loves a pat. So so so friendly. 

4. My friends. From my bestie of 27 years to the new mums I met through the ABA, from my students to my fellow teachers, everyone involved in Sansukh and podficcery and creative shenanigans, and all my wonderful friends here on tumblr – we don’t always talk regularly, but I consider you all very dear friends.

5. Bouncing off the previous – creative endeavours. I enjoy writing. I love music, be it singing or playing or composing (listening to music can send me into ecstatic tears, I am a sap, yes, yes I am). I enjoy scribbling about (even though I am no artist hahaha), I love to dance and to choreograph, I ADORE acting, I like sewing, I absolutely love to cook. Basically, yeah. There we go!

Sorry if it’s personal, but how did you come to figure out you were bisexual? I’ve been questioning my own sexuality a lot recently, and I’m curious how people can decide for sure.

It’s very much a personal thing, Nonnie – not that I’m unwilling to talk about it, but I mean that it is for each person to decide for themselves. Some people prefer the term ‘pansexual’, but I prefer ‘bisexual’ as it is the word I have used to describe myself for 15 years now, and is very much a part of my identity.

I was always aware that I looked at bodies in a very aesthetic sense – decidedly not in a sexual sense – through my years of dance tuition. That included all bodies, regardless of gender. 

I developed quite late – I was at least 16-17 when puberty finally decided to happen! And then I found that my aesthetic attraction had a rather romantic edge as well. Still no sexual attraction. 

It wasn’t until I was around 18 or so, living independently (and, in grand old Australian tradition, drunk as a skunk) that I finally discovered that there was a particular girl at a party that really boiled my potatoes, so to speak! That was a surprise to me. Following that, I had a few relationships with people of differing genders, and found that I was very compatible with all of them, physically speaking. I began to consider myself bisexual.

I met Mr Dets when I turned 20, and fell in love with him maybe three-four months into our relationship. It’s been 13 years now, and I still love and am tremendously attracted to him. I am of the monogamous variety of person, me.

So, there’s a little blurb on me, and how I learned about myself. Your own journey will be different, because you’re the only one who can see into your own desires and choose a word to describe them. I hope my journey is a help to you, Nonnie. Good luck in everything you do *hugs*

Hrera reminds me a bit of Queen Clarice from Princess Diaries (the movies, not the books). Just how graceful and always in control she is, even when everything is falling to pieces…I don’t know, she just reminds me of her. (Of course, that would also bring Thorin, Frerin, and Dis into the roles of Mia…which is pretty funny.)

(aaaaaanother film I haven’t seen! God, I am an ignoramus when it comes to SO many pieces of entertainment, seriously. Mr Dets nearly had hysterics when he realised that I had never seen Ghostbusters. He has since rectified that!)

It’s been a while since we heard about Mr. Dets, how has he been? How is he with the dwarfling?

He’s good! He’s been very busy with work lately, which blows. But he loves his job (mostly)! So that’s good!

He ADORES her. She has to be the most kissed baby in the entire universe. They have special time together when he gets home from work. Sometimes they go out, down to the waterside, for a walk in the pram or baby-carrier. 

He holds her hands, his back hunched over, so that she can walk around the house. She loves to walk, though she’s nowhere near doing so on her own! She’s cruising – holding onto the furniture – and about three seconds away from crawling. Which is actually really frustrating for her. So many limbs to organise! Mobility is only SECONDS AWAY – if only this stupid second foot would sort itself out! 

Mr Dets will get down on the rug with her and help her play with her toys. He blows raspberries on her tummy, and she laughs like a loon. He also loves to spin her above his head – that results in some pretty hilarious baby-cackling!

It’s his turn to bathe her tonight. ❤

Hi dets! What are your favorite gems and metals? How would you hope to be adorned as a dwarf?

I love white gold and sapphires. 

Seriously. I love them. Mr Dets bought me a white-gold ring w diamonds and a sapphire for our engagement. 

He said it was to match my eyes. He is a giant goober ❤

So, were I a dwarf, I would still love blue gems I suppose. White gold, or silver in my braids. I would hope to be a musician in Middle Earth as well, and so I would have to keep my hair and beard braided out of the way of my bow and chinrest (I play violin), and probably get my lip pierced like Baris Crystaltongue, to show that I am a singer. Maybe have a particular bead that shows I am a teacher 🙂
