Oh my goodness! You have such a soothing voice and that lullaby is so pretty. What a gorgeous story you had for it as well, that it’s been passed down through the generations in your family. I bet your sister and her ‘little pickle’ will adore it.

*hugs* ahhh thank you so so much! I am so happy it is soothing, and that you liked it! Heh, I sure hope my sis and her pickle like it, and that it keeps getting passed down. It’s like a little shortcut to peace in our family, that song.

I loved that lullaby you arranged for your sister! It sounds a lot like “Toora Loora Loora” aka “An Irish Lullaby”, so maybe that’s what it is? My mom used to sing “Toora Loora Loora” to me all the time as a lullaby.

Oh my GOD IT IS SO SIMILAR

Maybe my Nanna forgot the tune and words of Toora Loora, and just made up her own…! She totally would, too. My nanna is amazeballs.

I found an amazing barbershop version here, oh wow – thank you, unicorn! Thank you so so much! You’ve just given me a little bit of my internal family history ❤

Let me give a bit of context for this one.

This is a super-simple lullaby my mother used to sing to myself and my little sister. My nan sang it as well. I have no idea how old it is or where it came from. When I hear it or sing it, these days, it comes with a massive flood of accompanying emotion.

I sing it to the Dwarfling these days. She says ‘shhhh’ between phrases, just the way I do. Just the way my mum does – and her mum too.

My little sister is about to have her first child, due on New Year’s Day. I wanted to give her and her “little pickle” something special and meaningful. She painted three beautiful pictures for the Dwarfling’s room before she arrived; they hang above her bed as I type this. I wondered, ‘what could possibly mean as much to her as that does to me? I’m no artist.”

So i decided to arrange the lullaby for her. I don’t know how well it works, but I DO know that I choked up a little as I sang it.

Anyone with small persons in their lives or who just need a simple, soothing, song to unwind and breathe in and out to – here we go, I hope you enjoy it. It was made with a hell of a lot of love.

So I just made my mum listen to your gigolas week day 3 entry and I think she liked it. She laughed a lot at least.

Update: she posted a link to the song on her facebook page. Which means she loved it. Also I am still somewhat freaked out about the fact that my fifty-something year old mother uses fandom speak and ship names -.-;

Tell your mum ahhhh thank you so very much (I am an older fan myself, so…! *fistbumps her*) and I am so thrilled she enjoyed it!! Thank you too for telling me, Nonnie!

omg facebook eeeeek

IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET A DOWNLOAD LINK OF THAT SONG YOU DID BECAUSE IT’S GORGEOUS AND JUST HOLY BUCKETS I NEED TO LISTEN TO THAT CONSTANTLY (sorry for shouting but you did such a wonderful job. Agkkxsgjvsfjxd)

ohmigosh, really?! Ahhh, thank you, you are so kind! *blushes like mad* oh wow, I am all fuzzy-brained now, you shall make me tongue-tied!

I am hoping you mean the recent Gigolas week song, “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” – if so, there should be a ‘download’ link just underneath the play button!

*hides, meeping* oh my goodness, thank you!

aviva0017:

It’s the last night of Chanukah, and I swore I was going to record something whether my voice was back to 100% or not (spoiler: it’s not. stupid 2-3 week long illness). XD This has always been my favorite Chanukah song just because it’s so pretty, so I BS’d some harmonies and gave it a go.  Not entirely right, but I still like it well enough to post.  Hopefully I won’t sound like a dying squeak toy for the entire holiday next year so I can record more XD
