Planning Update

sansukhorc-estra:

Alright guys, so the current things we’re working with are as follows:

How many instruments versus how many parts.

But there’s also the problem of recording. Since the players would most likely be from around the world, playing together would be near impossible. (Not to say it couldn’t be done, but there would be so many things that could go wrong). So the next best option would be what determamfidd suggested, which would be to have each player record their part while listening to a metronome/click-track at a specified speed.

And then these separate audio tracks would be layered on top of one another.

Of course that doesn’t account for fermatas and the like.

If anyone has any ideas feel free to contact either myself or punsbulletsandpointythings, we’ll gladly consider any and all suggestions!

Another option would be a rehearsal track. That would account for any tempo fluctuations…

The rehearsal track could be one “demo” instrument playing the melody & the demo player counting out the beats where there are fermatas, accelerandos, ritardandos etc. The orc-estra member could then record their part by playing along with it?

idk, there’s another idea! A bit more labour-intensive though.

Cover of “The Iron Hills for Me” by determamfidd and notanightlight, from Sansûkh, which is amazing and wonderful and should be read by everybody.

Just to reiterate, this is not even remotely mine. All credit for the arrangement and lyrics goes to the two amazing people mentioned above.

Lyrics below the cut (again, not mine).

What a wonderful rendition! You have a great sense of pace and timing – I was stomping along with you the whole way! Thank you so so much!

So I’ve spent the weekend practicing for an audition and rereading the fabulous determamfidd’s amazing work Sansukh, and there’s only so many times I can play the same piece and not go absolutely insane, soooo…I present the “Iron Hills For Me,” arranged for cello.

FEELS. AMPLIFIED.

courtugger SOMEONE FOR YOUR ORC-ESTRA PERHAPS?

notanightlight:

Since everyone seems very excited about instrumentation, I figured I’d post this track that’s been sitting around my computer for a while.  Just for fun my friend, woodsofnika and I worked out a guitar part for My Iron Home (The Iron Hills for Me) which ended up making it sort of folksy and a bit more upbeat.  determamfidd heard and then added in her fabulous fiddle work!

So I hope you enjoy this laid back little jam session!

Vocals: Me

Guitar: woodsofnika

Violin: determamfidd

AWWWW WE SOUND SO HAPPY AND FOLKSY I LOVE IT

lol woefully out-of-tune fiddle

NOTAAAAAA ❤ Thank you for putting this together! Thank you so much woodsofnika! It’s brilliant!

Oh Gamgee! You have such a beautiful warm rich voice! And the way you’ve sung this really drives the homesickness home, augh augh augh. I like your alternate notes for the chorus! Such lovely diction and intonation, too! GOD just rolling around in this, it’s fabulous. Thank you so so so much!

THAT ENDING. SO MUCH EMOTION, SO SO MUCH.

I’m not crying again, I’m not.

Hi, I want to tell you thanks. I love the story and writing of Sansûkh, but I want to thank-you specifically for it’s music. The music you’ve created, they lyrics you wrote, but mostly for being so open to others creating songs for your words. Music affects me more deeply than almost anything else, and the Songs of Sansûkh are … they’re pretty much perfect, and an amazing collaboration. So I guess I’m thanking you for being so encouraging to people you inspire. Thank you. It means the world.

Oh Nonnie.

You’ve touched me very deeply. That is such a wonderful thing to tell me: thank you for taking the trouble to send me such a beautiful and generous message.

I’m not the most polished or accomplished composer, but I do enjoy it a lot.

Music is so so important to me, and I would never stand in the way of anyone making it. It’s a constant source of joy to me.

I am thrilled you like the songs, and I’m so grateful that they motivate others. I am so SO thankful for the marvellous work of wonderful folks who compose, arrange and perform for Sansukh: like notanightlight, muchymozzarella, lacefedora, goldberry-in-the-rushes, ninayasmijn and more! It just makes me want to sing!! So I suppose it’s an inspiration feedback-loop, in a way 😀

I hope one day to hear your music, Nonnie. That would be so special.
