So. I decided to record myself singing The Iron Hills song from Sansûkh (both written by the lovely determamfidd). So here it is!

(sorry for background noise and skype pings(those were ninayasmijn‘s fault(love you dear<3)) but there’s no where quiet in my house so this is what I got ^^)

(also don’t know what’s w/the last 10ish seconds of it. it wasn’t there when I recorded it)

Ohhhhhh! Beautiful rendition! THAT ENDING. OH MY GOD. 

(also – I love the snippet of the cradle-song at the end, it’s like, super sad and echoey AHHH)

Apparently I’m in a singing mood and a Sansûkh mood. I have a couple issues with this recording, but I’m posting it anyway so I stop over analyzing my mistakes. Yes!

Just thought I’d let you know that I’ve been listening to “The Iron Hills for Me” on repeat while I paint my garden fence :D In a way it sort of reminds me of Scotland The Brave, in the way in appreciates a harsh but beautiful landscape

a bit of inspiration for the lyrics definitely came from Scotland the Brave, yeah!

Yay, this is finally done! 😀 This is my setting of The Lay of Nimrodel, which Legolas sings in The Fellowship of the Ring.  This has always been my favorite Tolkien poem, and I think I first came up with the beginnings of this tune for it when I was about twelve. XD I did a rough version a while back, but now that I finally have my new mic I wanted to give it a go for real.

(Apologies for the background noise- unfortunately a lot of it is the stupid plastic pedal I have for this keyboard and the sound quality goes a bit wonky when I try to noise cancel it XD)

Not technically done for Sansûkh since I started way before I read it, but it still could be XP (while I work on more stuff that is for that)

Avi this arrangement is jawdropping. The rolling piano perfectly captures the rivulets of Nimrodel, it’s sweet and melancholy without dragging, it’s so beautiful, it’s so so beautiful.

So I said I wasn’t gonna record anything else tonight but I lied >.> I loved this song when it was first posted, but seeing it in context put it in an entirely new (read: painful) light.  I adore Dets’ choral version, but I wanted to try to sing it as Barís might have actually sounded by herself.  Not gonna lie, the first half is acting and the second half was me actually getting a little choked up because I have so many feelings about that scene >.>
