So god this is embarrassing. I made up a little ditty for ‘I sit beside the fire and think’ from chapter 10 of Sansukh and I’ve been humming it all day so I decided to record it. I will probably delete this out of embarrassment at some point so listen while you can. (The things I find myself doing for determamfidd’s creation)

I was always fond of this song. This is the version sung by the Poxy Boggards  – there’s quite a few out there! Lyrics tend to vary, since the song has undergone permutations since it first showed up in the 19th C. Lyrics can be found here.

While Sansukh itself is truly amazing, the creativity it inspires in other people is incredible! People are not only making fanart and fanfics, but music and voice acting and even recipes! I really hope you’re proud that you’ve been able to inspire so many people!

Oh, I am CONSTANTLY pinching myself. Sometimes it really doesn’t seem real. I am so grateful. SO grateful. And so amazingly, overwhelmingly, heartstoppingly humbled. These incredibly dedicated, artistic and talented people have just. done this. Because they were excited, because they wanted to give their personal time and energy. Because they liked my fic. 

I have met so many wonderful people. I have learned so much. 

Thank you, to each and every one of you. I can never express how much it means to me.

I was messing around with my old lap harp and ended up playing the Iron Hills Soldier Song from determamfidd‘s story Sansûkh!  It was really fun to play and a pretty good workout for the fingers.

I received my brand new shiny mic this week! Since I cannot post the lines I have been practicing for a few days I give you what I have been wanting to sing for a long time – The Iron Hills song.

Many of the cast – and others! – have sung this before of course. And for a very good reason, I think! I simply wanted to add my own voice to the choir.

All the credit for this song goes to amazing determamfidd and notanightlight, I claim nothing but my own voice. And an intense appreciation for Dáin Ironfoot, a mighty king and an even greater dwarf! Thank you Dets for this marvelous song!

Where did you find all of the song in Sansûkh? Are they written in Lord of the Rings or in another of Tolkien’s books? Or did you write any yourself? Is there any music you listen to while you write to help you get into the LotR mood/mindset? (I haven’t read the books and I’m really interested in the music in this fic ^^ Sorry if it’s an odd question)

Okay, well, some of the songs and poems I have used are Tolkien’s words. Here are the ones I have used (or referred to) that are from canon:

The Song of Durin (Gimli’s chant in Khazad-Dum)

I also used ‘I Sit Beside The Fire And Think’, but made up my own two final stanzas.

No, I don’t actually listen to music as I write. I tend to want to concentrate on the music, instead of writing! I find it really distracting. My head is a noisy enough place already 🙂

Some absolutely glorious people ( notanightlight​ , muchymozzarella​, flamesburnonthemountainside) have composed and recorded songs from Sansukh. They are completely gobsmackingly beautiful. Check it out on the utterly bogglingly huge Sansukh Masterpost.

so Kili anf Fili both play the fiddle right. how agressive do you think their playing gets? like I was watching Nuttin’ but Stringz on youtube and they get so into it and completely shred their bowstrings and I think Kili and Fili would play like that (probs not the style of music tho, something more dwarvish) and they keep breaking the strings or their bows and Dis getting annoyed cause “You just replaced the strings last week Kili what do you mean its broken???”

They would be surreptitiously cutting the tails of every pony in order to re-hair their bows, hell yes. Epic fiddle battles. and if the victory is in doubt, as a last resort the fiddle can also be used as a bludgeon

Also, Balin and Dwalin are meant to play the viol?
