Dearest Dets, I had such an emotional, draining morning that, while it was good, left me feeling wrung out. I need some music, I thought, scrolled through my bookmarks to find THE song. Curser landed on “Light on the Horizon”. Okay, then. And it was perfect, it was so exactly what I needed that I don’t have words to describe the perfection. Still feeling wrung out, but a good deal lighter. Thank you. – heire
*EPIC HUGS*
I am so glad it was what you needed. All my love to you, and thank you SO much.
I hope that tomorrow is gentler to you. *hugs some more*
Does Light on the Horizon have ukulele chords?? Because I really want to play it for a girl I have a crush on, but I can only play ukulele. Also, Sansukh is OMG AMAZING! I have read a chapter each night (sometimes even two, I know I’m such a rebel) for the past four weeks and it’s the best fanfic I have ever read, bar none.
OOOH welp, it does now! I just sat down and scribbled them out for you, Nonnie. Playing uke for a pretty girl is 110% the best reason ever to write out chords 🙂 Best of luck with it, and THANK YOU!

Takes me far from my door.
Never now will I falter,
Since you taught me how to soar.

In western lands
beneath the Sun
the flowers may rise in Spring,
the trees may bud, the waters run,
the merry finches sing.
Or there maybe ‘tis cloudless night
and swaying beeches bear
the Elven-stars as jewels white
amid their branching hair.
Though here at
journey’s end I lie
buried in darkness deep,
beyond all towers strong and high,
beyond all mountains steep,
above all shadows rides the Sun
and Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
nor bid the Stars farewell.
Or ‘waith bain nura Anor
A panlû elin cuinar
Ú-pedithon ‘i-aur gwann’
Egor nai îl ‘namarië’.
(the Elvish stanza is a translation of the last four lines of the poem).
Your comment about composers who are hard to sing reminds me of my conductor (he composes/arranges most of our material). We’ll go over a particularly crunchy chord or strange passage and he’ll look down at the music and go “who even wrote that” before chuckling to himself because he’s a dork 💛
*lies facedown* yeah, I did quite a bit of that, recording this song. I am right there with him. WHO WROTE THIS MONSTROSITY, doesn’t she know we need to BREATHE? what the hell, why why why are there all these tone crunches everywhere, and ow this Sop I part never comes down out of the rafters OW
(I’ve finished recording it now, thankfully! I’ve just got some mastering to go. It is pretty tight harmony,so I want to get the balance right in places, plus there was some annoying popping on the recording of the Alto II part. All cleaned up and pretty now!)
began recording the new song tonight
you know how there are some composers who are just a BITCH to sing? yaaaaaaaaap I am apparently one of them
…welp, that is the FASTEST i have EVER composed a song.
