Hi! I was re-reading Sansûkh and I wanted to ask if you meant to write Narvi as autistic? Because I’m autistic myself and I find a great amount of autistic traits in her!

Hey Nonnie! I didn’t set out with that in mind when I developed her character, honestly. But shit, someone much wiser than me once said ‘a book should say more than the author intended’, and I think that’s true. 

So, Nonnie. If you say Narvi is autistic, then fuck yes, she is autistic!

So my brain decided that this is a good week to re-read Sansûkh and I read the bit from ch40 with Narvi and I just… I had to guys. I also changed my design of Narvi a bit too, so there’s that. 

Narvi watched the Tower of Barad-Dûr fall, and bittersweet tears filled her eyes.

“At last,” she whispered.

oh my brave, brave girl, oh narvi, you have her spirit so perfectly here, she is aMAZING, and I absolutely love her! I love her dress, I WANT THOSE BOOTS, and gaaaah her hair and her expression and her tears and the greyscale and the shadows and AHHHHHHHH

You know, it just occurred to me that Gimli and Celebrimbor actually have a lot in common. They’re both jewellers, both in awe of Galadriel, both were key players in forging friendships between dwarves and elves, both are painfully loyal, both have a family curse to deal with, and I dunno why but I always pictured Celebrimbor as red-headed. I bet they’d get on like house on fire if they ever had a chance to meet. (Sansukh thought: Do you think sometimes Gimli reminds Narvi of Celebrimbor?)

alkjsdhflkashdfal yes, yes, absolutely! (although I am so sorry to be That Person, but Celebrimbor is mentioned to be dark-haired IT COULD BE DARK AUBURN THOUGH idk, I am sorry to mention that) 

Narvi thinks, now and then, in that strange what-if way: Brim and Gimli would be like those brand-new-but-instant friends you meet at parties now and then, the kind who always seem to know the same jokes and so tell them simultaneously in really loud voices.

(She watched Gimli as he built the Doors of Aglarond: all the arguing and hmming over plans, the frowning and pacing, the chewing of the lip, the sudden joyous bursts of inspiration. 

It was like watching a memory.)

A recent incident that left me really rattled later set me thinking, and that led to this idea- being dead and able to watch
the world of the living doesn’t always turn out in your favour, not even when
you’re someone with the genius of Narvi. In fact, especially not then. Featuring aro!Narvi, set in Sansukh-verse. 

I do not own any of the named characters, Haban belongs to @determamfidd and everyone else belongs to JRR Tolkien (though I’ve followed Dets’ characterisation and portrayal of them).
