For those who may be wondering, I made it to 9 bars/pubs/drinking establishments yesterday (if you count going to the parade with a full flask).

Also, EMOTIONSSSSS!!!!! This chapter of Sansûkh was SO FREAKING GOOD!!!! I was laughing, I was teary eyed, I was sneaking off to find corners to read in AND THEN MY PHONE DIED!!!

Finished reading it last night/this morning and BEAUTIFUL REUNIONS MAKE ME ALL WIBBLEY!!!! AND I AM TRYING NOT TO SPOIL!!!!

keyboard on my laptop is kaput, gotta get it replaced. I’ve cleaned it out, re-installed the driver, all of that, and it is still craptastic. AUGH. So, I’m really sorry if you’ve tagged me or messaged me in the past two days: I’m sorting this out, but it is slow going.

also: I HAVE THE FLU augh I ache, GOD do I ache right now. My sternum aches from coughing and sneezing, my BACK aches, my head aches, everything hurts

On the upside, SO MUCH WRITING GETTING DONE – but on Mr Dets’ PC, which is sorta irritating bc I wanna be in bed. i miss my laptop *cries*

Still! Chapter 44 is currently sitting at approx 10K, and I have another 5K of ch45, and drips and drabs of 46 done…!

You are a beautiful person, one of my very first friends here on tumblr ever, and I can’t tell you how much your friendship means to me, lovely. Go have an amazing year.

OH DANG NOTA MY LOVE ILU

1. I bite my nails. Have done ever since I can remember. I get very attacky and gnawy when stressed, and yeah, they are terrible. I do not have pretty hands. They are small and strong, but urrrrrrrgly.

2. My favourite colour is blue. 

3. I HATE HATE HATE the cold. (I got Raynaud’s, which means I can be cold even on a hot day, and my fingers and toes can ache something awful. On the upside, they change colour like a mood-ring!!)

4. I am 3rd of 4 siblings: two sisters and a brother.

5. (Corollary to the above) I can move my eyebrows independently of each other, wiggle my ears, play ‘table tennis’ with my eyes, turn my tongue upside-down, and assorted other weird dinner-table gross-out-your-siblings shenanigans. 

(out of the four of us, I am the champion of the weird-shit-you-can-do family Olympics.)

The fic I was thinking about is Sansûkh by the incredible @determamfidd!

It’s a a sweeping fic in the lotr/hobbit fandom that retells the story from right after Thorin’s death all the way through the events of the trilogy (with more to come following). The breadth of this story is matched by its depth. It fills in missing spaces, like all of the women from the line of Durin, what happens during the War in the North, and quite or over looked scenes following the Fellowship.

And I really have stayed up developing and chatting about fantheories about this fanfic with several other people!

It really lends itself to it because it likes to dig into the cultures which just makes you itch to keep expanding it! And it has dozens of original characters that fit so well into the narrative that you forget they aren’t canon! (I frequently forget that there isn’t a canonical mother for Gimli, for example.) They are full characters of all different backgrounds, genders, orientations, and there are even some non-neurotypical characters which all makes me beyond happy. And the best part? They feel natural. They are balanced. And it feels like they are there because naturally people like them would be there.

I can’t recommend it enough, and if you haven’t read it, I would definitely suggest doing so!
