I have to thank you for changing my perception on dwarrows that when I read the phrase”the gold lust of dwarves”(or something similar), whereas in the past I would not feel a thing about it but now I would cringe so much that I feel like I am being insulted personally.

It’s something that offends me too, on a number of levels. So, you’re welcome Nonnie – and I’ll strive to always keep working at dismantling and refuting that stereotype, bc it is bleh. It reminds me of racist invective, and its real-world connotations are antisemitic and just. *brrr* nope.

Okay, I’ve gotten several messages lately regarding my racism posts that basically argue that “it wasn’t racist for Tolkien to make everyone white since it’s supposed to be Europe.” Unfortunately, the only thing this tells me is that you haven’t actually read my first post on racism, since I presented about eight pages of research highlighting how many people in Middle Earth actually weren’t described as white. Maybe you didn’t have time to read it, I don’t know. Whatever the reason, I made this little map that basically sums it all up (but if you want to check the research behind this map, definitely go read the original post.)

As a thank you for that wonderful response to the racism post that is going around, have a headcanon about Belladonna: In her travels she found this little walking stick crafter who made her a beautiful walking staff. It hangs in a place of honor above the fireplace, long before Sting ever joins it.

skjdhflajsgfajsalhdfal SO ADORABLE AHHHH I LOVE BELLADONNA SO MUCH

(I bet it’s the one Bilbo took when he left Bag End in lotr ahhhh)
